They could earn back a lot of support by releasing versions of the console that come without many of the built-in things people don't want. Mainly the Kinect. Microsoft and Sony are more equal when the PS Eye thing is taken into account, but again that's optional and totally not required for the system to operate normally.
It won't fix all the problems the system has, but it would be a good first step.
But that's a story for another time.Actually, the bare-bones launch PS 3 was $499, but it had a smaller hard drive than the $599 model and lacked both flash memory card readers and built-in Wi-Fi.
The most ridiculous thing about Xbox One's price right now is that the rival console that is $100 cheaper has better hardware in a smaller package.

Actually, you can, but it's still a turd to those who dig deep enough.
...Why did I feel the need to say that?

Lampshade Hanging: It's a lifestyle."Heavily implied" might be the better term to use, given how people like to exaggerate everything. But "outright stated" is false. If anything they are anticipating the options the cloud gaming will offer as being the biggest selling point, which, you know, requires research.
The X-Box rep I talked to compared it to the "banana controller" of the PS 3 and how things are subject to change depending on the feedback. This is obviously more than an aesthetic/ergonomic change but they can and most likely WILL change the various policies they are implementing. To what, I don't know.

There's the quote. Here
is the link. Decide for yourselves. But to me that sounds an awful lot like someone saying that Internet outrage doesn't matter because most people don't do the research.
That is taking it WAY out of context. He isn't saying the XB One is going to sell because consumers are uneducated, he is saying it is hard to tell the response of the casual gamers who aren't going to be ranting on message boards and likely haven't heard about it yet.
The first line is saying that they are going to do their best to make sure everyone understands what the XB One is going to do. "This is a big change, consumers don't always love change, and there's a lot of education we have to provide to make sure that people understand."
Uh, no. The rest of the article is about how Microsoft needs to educate consumers. That part right there is talking about people's reactions to unfavorable policies and how that might affect things.
But again, I posted a link to the article. People can read and decide for themselves.

The actual price of $500 is not bad considering the hardware you are getting, it's not much different price-wise than the enhanced 250GB 360 and it's not as bad as the bare-bone PS 3 being $600. It's only that the PS 4 managed to undercut them that makes the $500 look bad. If the PS 4 was $450 it would almost be a non-issue.
