Technically, pagad said he wasn't interested in their other material, not that he disliked it. And even then, I'm having trouble seeing any malicious intent here.

Yeah, and in my experience, the phrase "have you actually" is exclusively used condescendingly. It's a passive-aggressive way of telling someone that you're more informed than they are and that's the reason they don't share your opinion. It seems very strange to me that someone would not have sampled anything else by an artist who released one of their favorite albums. Despite really liking Killing Joke's Pandemonium, it's unlikely that I'll check out any of their other albums precisely because I've listened to Democracy and Night Time and they were nothing special.

[up]I really like Face To Face's self titled and ''Progression Through Unlearning" (I think that's the name) by Snapcase, but I'm not too interested in checking out the rest, even though those are two of my favorite albums of the 90s.

I have a few friends who are like that, like an album but don't bother checking anything else out. In fact, I have a friend who liked Blood Mountain, but didn't look up any of their other music until I showed him Crack The Skye.

Girls, girls, you're both beautiful. (Cookie goes to whoever guesses where that came from)

I think I should give Tom Waits more of a chance. I LOOOVED Rain Dogs, but I hated the hell out of Real Gone. I don't really know where to go elsewhere in his vast discography. Swordfishtrombones and Bone Machine sound alluring, but I can only get one for right now. Which should I go for?

I want macadamia nut.

I friggin' love My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and 808's and Heartbreak, but I can't find it in me to feel the same about Kanye's first three albums, awesome singles or not.

Huh, I appear to have caused a bit of a fuss. This won't do!

I have indeed listened to Blood Mountain, and I really don't like it. I've listened to "March of the Fire Ants" off Remission, and really didn't like that either. As far as I can tell Crack The Skye was something of an oddity that doesn't sound like any of their other material, and if Blood Mountain is a good indicator of their prior work I can't say I have much interest in it, given that sludge metal isn't really my cup of tea.

[up][up]I think Mastodon got better with every album (which as far as I can tell is unpopular around here), so if you didn't like Blood Mountain, you probably won't care for Remission or Leviathan at all.

[up]Assuming that's directed towards me: Only on a technicality, and you started it in the first place, so tongue

...Though that'll probably change later this year, when the 3rd studio album is released with the original lineup! FUCK YEAH!

Electruction, Infester, Phantasm, and so on are all great bands which a lot of people only like one album by, a large part due to the fact they only ever had a single album. For a lot of bands, sometimes all they ever do is make one great album they're never able to live up to again.

To answer a question from 2.5 millenia ago:

Swordfishtrombones and Bone Machine sound alluring, but I can only get one for right now. Which should I go for?

I love both albums, but I'd lean more towards Swordfishtrombones because it's pretty stylistically similar to Rain Dogs.

Lessee, Panic At The Disco, I like Pretty. Odd., mostly because I'm a sucker for Britpop-sounding stuff. (People say it's Beatlesque, but I think it sounds more like Oasis than anything. And yes, I am aware that Oasis was greatly inspired by The Beatles.) Their other stuff I haven't bothered to check out, but I'm none too eager to check out their first album just based on what I know about it.

I really don't care much for Ulver's pre-Blood Inside albums (this is the point where if I were on a metal forum I would be lynched). Shadows of the Sun is definitely my favorite of theirs.
