No. Lesbians in the Batman verse will always be the more pressing topic at hand solely because it involves lesbians. It will also always be on topic.
Now drink your tea and discuss lesbians like a nice person before I start to fork people in the eyes.
If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan ChahActually I would like to argue that it is on-topic because "Books are the obviously superior form of media" is a stupid reason that some have used to explain their dislike for comics.
Also "I don't like lesbians" could be considered a stupid reason as well. Lesbians are like pie or cats and as such everyone likes them. If you don't you are not human.
^The current one is a lesbian if I recall. We've also had a mute one who was blind I think...Then they made her talk.

If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan ChahOkay, so there's a Bat Girl comic and she's a lesbian? Is this current or is it something that's no longer running? And is it worth the read?
Ah here we go. It's Batwoman not girl. Current Kathy Kane Batwoman is a Jewish lesbian. Current Batgirl has les yay with Supergirl or something according to the wiki. Les yay is fine too.

If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan ChahEdmond brought it up last night and we derailed into Batman conversation. The last train of conversation was deemed retarded and I threatened people at fork point to discuss lesbians and les yay in the Batman verse.
If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan ChahOn the topic of lesbians in the Batman verse. Renee Montoya, the current Question, is a lesbian. And she was created for Batman The Animated Series, so it counts.
You must jest, what kind of man claims victory when the opponent still stands. (last post on last page)
Novels are clearly the superior form for any man or women of high thought and reason.

Rarely active, try DA/Tumblr Avatar by pippanaffie.deviantart.comFutilely trying to rerail the thread, I remember the following conversation with my mom after she badgered me into watching Avatar
"So, how'd you like it? Wasn't the CGI amazing?"
"Meh."
"But it's got such a great message!"
"It's been done. Millions of times. Better. Like in Princess Mononoke"*
"But sweetie, that's a cartoon."
NO. You do NOT get to pull the "It's a cartoon!" card after watching Avatar and gushing about the CGI animation for ten minutes. YOU DO NOT.

Gushing about the graphics in Avatar is fine. So long as that is the only thing you gush about. And I agree that your mom needs to have the "Cartoons, anime, CGI, and graphics in general are animation" talk.
Personally, I would use Fern Gully as something to compare it to.

Yu hav nat sein bod speeling unntil know. (cacke four undersandig tis)the cake is a lie!
The thing is, she's actually watched Princess Mononoke (although I doubt she was paying attention, given that she doesn't remember the plot), which is why I used it as an example. Ferngully would probably only invoke a "What?"
Which, of course, makes the "but it's a cartoon!" excuse even stupider, what with the violence rating.
DECAPITATIONS: FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY!

Alright, here I am reading Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei when my dad walks in and says, "Why are you reading those Japanese comics? You're not a kid anymore."
I then happily show him two page picture of Nozomu hanging himself.
"Like I said, it's for kids. Why are you reading it?"

Don't mind me. I'm just a creepy little lurker.

No that's not their argument. Their argument is that you are being overly snobby person who can't realize that books aren't the best thing ever. They have their limits and things that they can do better or worse than comics. Same with comics. However it's all terribly subjective so in the end no one is right, but everyone is right. Until they start spouting off their opinions other than "It's subjective" as objective. In which case I start stabbing people and force all the survivors to drink large amounts of green tea.
Also listing off authors is a bad way to prove anything. We could just as start easily saying things like Osamu Tezuka, Yoshihiro Tatsumi, and so on.
Now drink your tea and let us get back to the more pressing topic at hand. Lesbians in the Batman verse.
