Bloodpouch, the bloodiest hero of them all...
Theres sex and death and human grime in monochrome for one thin dime and at least the trains all run on time but they dont go anywhere.Back on-topic, I'm tired of explaining that Stan Lee isn't known for drawing comics. He's known for writing them. Then I have to explain who Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko are (I never get tired of gushing over Ditko's art, though).

I'm not exactly tired of having to explain it, but the very fact that there exists a need to explain who Joe Simon and Bill Finger were... even to fans... makes me twitch a little. At least poor old Jolly Jacob Kurtzberg managed to get his name on the cover of a few of his later works, eesh... (why yes, I did get Jack Kirby's biography not long ago, can you tell?
)
... Highly Visible Ninja EDIT- Why are those names redlinked? Why?!?
Well, I guess I have some troping to do when I find the time -_-;

I don't get tired of it (mostly because it's not stupid people I tell) but most people aren't aware that comics change. So all the various 'Ages' of comics are unknown. I think it's because, really, most people's knowledge comes from superhero media outside of comics. Animated shows, films, etc, that's what's really driving the public perception of superheroes. So I enjoy telling people how comics are diverse and have developed over the years.
She hated men in the animated movie because the only man she really knew was a dickbag.
She also was just getting to know culture outside of her home. She was confused as hell as to why the women didn't work "hard enough" either. The end of the movie seemed to indicate she got better on the first point, at least.

Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.
I usually ask them if they know about the idea of alternate realities. If they say no, I ask, "Ever see Sliders?" If they say yes, I simply respond "Same idea."
That's because your friend is an idiot.
Sorry; I don't know the friend in question, so I shouldn't have said that.
Anyhow, if they don't know about the idea of alternate realities (or Sliders), I just simply recite the concept that's been mentioned in countless TV shows/movies/comics/sci-fi/etc.
Embroiled in slave rebellion, I escaped crucifixion simply by declaring 'I am Vito', everyone else apparently being called 'Spartacus'.I think I was wording my explanation poorly to her though.
I think I was trying to explain how the Spider-man movies have nothing to do with the comics even though they have a lot of the same things.
The trouble I've had with the Sliders analogy are the "retellings" of classic stories in a different medium. For example, the retelling of "For The Man Who Has Everything" in Justice League. It's pretty much the exact same story as the one in the comics, but with no Robin. Or, for another example, the many different version of the "first meeting" between Batman and The Joker. Most of them happen in the same universe, under the same "continuity", but with different events. Telling people it's all alternate worlds only confuses them more.
Speaking of alt-continuities, it tends to get annoying telling people time and time again that the continuity from the recent popular movie doesn't necessarily apply anywhere else.
No, Joker didn't kill Batman's parents. No, Wolverine and Sabertooth are not half-brothers. No, Joker doesn't have scars in the comics (well, that one was eventually changed).
People are starting to believe this less, though.

Pouches.
