The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo will be a major disaster. Most of the book's readers already saw the original and the choice of Rooney Mara is a bad one (her role as Nancy in the Nightmare on Elm Street remake was considered one of the worst things in that film). The film will get dismissed as a pointless remake and even Fincher diehards will avoid it.
My prediction for the Oscars: Larry Crowne will get several nominations. The Academy needs to boost its ratings with a feel-good film with a huge star and Tom Hanks's attempt at another Forrest Gump-esque film will bring them in. It should also be a huge hit at the box office.

More Buscemi at http://forum.reelsociety.com/Under most cases I'd say PIXAR is the obvious shoe in for the BAF award and BP nomination but with their next film as Cars 2, I'm actually hesitant about my assumptions.
Still too early to tell though.

You are displaying abnormally high compulsions to over-analyze works of fiction and media. Diagnosis: TV Tropes Addiction.
Worse than aliens 3 I can't see it, I actually think it'll be a success.
It's way too early to predict Oscars anyway except maybe Gnomeo And Juliet for best picture...

Humour, where would we be without it? In Germany, probablyWell, I guess I was wrong about Larry Crowne.
Anyway, I'll say that these movies have a good shot:
- A Dangerous Method
- The Descendants
- Drive
- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2
- The Iron Lady (the teaser was surprisingly very good)
- J. Edgar
- Moneyball
- The Tree of Life

More Buscemi at http://forum.reelsociety.com/my bets for the oscars:
- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2
- X-Men: First Class
- Bridesmaid
- Tree of Life
- Rango (not my personal choice, but you know... it's the oscars)
- Source Code
- Water for Elephants (Costume)
Bridesmaid has some Oscar Bait into it like the dramedy parts of it
This level of trolling is reasonable for Commander Obvious. What do you think of this, everyone?![]()
Well, not quite. Dramedy usually much more dramatic with humor that's not usually found in all out comedies. The comedy generally is overshadowed by the end. And Bridesmaids is existentially a comedy. Which can have some drama if the plot calls for it, but the drama usually doesn't overshadow the main comedy.
And Dramedy =/= automatic Oscar Bait. I'm starting to get sick of that term. People just slap it on anything nowadays. Not that it doesn't exist. But, it's becoming more and more like "Mary Sue" in arbitrary in meaning.

I think some people may be posting what they'd like to win, not what actually is likely to. The Academy has a history of snubbing sci-fi and fantasy- if Harry Potter for example wins anything outside of technical awards I'll be surprised. Ditto for any other sci-fi and fantasy film.

Most likely, seems like a good contender for Best Animated Picture. Wasn't crazy about the story because I thought a good maybe, 20-30 minuted coulda been lobbed off and it would have been perfect. But, the animated and character design was really well done.
I wonder if Cars 2 will even get nominated. I know it's Pixar, but it seems to be one of their weaker (if not weakest films). The first Cars did get nominated but did not win.
Best animated picture? HELLOOOOOOO, the powers that be at The Oscars don't give a shit about animation because they think it's for kids. And I think it's pretty obvious that boring films only critics like will get any serious awards.
I TELL YOU HWAT!I tend to like those "boring films only critics like". Me and the critics tend to think alike.
Except for Amadeus. That movie was just BORING.
No, Cars2 will NOT get any nod whatsoever. It got ravaged by the critics.

"Sarchasm: The gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the person that doesn't get it."Alan Rickman will get best supporting actor for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2. I was convinced he deserves a nod for it after one scene. Those who have seen it, probably know which one I'm talking about.
We're going to spread this shit like Nutella. Then watch a dubbed version.
Anyway, I already think that Christopher Plummer has Best Supporting Actor in the bag. His performance in Beginners is one of his best and has everything that the Academy loves.

More Buscemi at http://forum.reelsociety.com/No one else has any confidence in the Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy remake?
ERROR: The current state of the world is unacceptable. Save anyway? YES/NO
I do. If pulled off well, it'll be a big contender at the awards.

In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

No, not the Oscars for this year's films, for 2011. What films do you think are Oscar contenders.
A strong prediction is that The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011, the English verision) will garner Best Picture, Best Director (David Fincher), Best Actress (Rooney Mara, who I think will have a Star-Making Role with this film), and Best Adapted Screenplay (it's being penned by Steven Zillian, nominee for Schindler's List and Gangs Of New York.).
What you think? This is also to determine which films will probably end up on the Critics Top 10 (a site that list films placed on various Best Films of the Year lists. It's worth checking out.) list, since Oscar nominated films usually end up on there.
It's metafiction about metafiction about metafiction. More serious message: Don't you wish you watch everything that happens in the wo
