Seems a shame we don't have a good picture of a harpy on this page. Any suggestions?

Do you remember where we all came from? Do you remember what it's all about?

Compilation of all the Harpy card illustrations from Yu-Gi-Oh! I like the second from the left in the top row and the second from the right in the row below that.

I like the D&D example above. (#2)

This is an illustration of the Forest of the Suicides in The Divine Comedy, and the harpies that roost in it. A couple of cuts:

I'm fine with really any of the Yugioh ones that show the Harpies themselves, except Harpie's Pet Baby Dragon, Harpie's Hunting Ground, and Triangle Ecstasy Spark, since the Harpies aren't really the main focus in those.

Hell, we could stack an entire crowner with just Yugioh Harpies.

Thumbs down from me on all the Yu Gi Oh pics, way too cartoony for my tastes on this particular topic.

Don't like the Yu Gi Oh ones. Too unclear

Well, since there's already a decent amount of good images, here's a crowner.

I really don't like the Monster Girl one. To me, most of the others are also too pretty and attractive. Harpies are rarely cute and sexy.

How about the classic harpy, or a more Assyrian style

Harpies are rarely cute and sexy.

Well, judging by the number of cute and sexy ones on this crowner...

[up][up] I agree. I prefer something closer to the original myth, where they are not beautiful or enticing.

[up] There's s resson the term harpy is also an insult meaning an unpleasant, nagging woman.

^^ I'm not talking about fanart. I'm talking about the way they're actually used.

I like the idea of using classical harpies, but are there other images? And maybe a caption saying how many harpies are beautiful nowadays.

By the way is there any reason the trope page is not simply "Harpy"? Snowclone/theme naming?

The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman.

Someone wanted something spiffier than Harpy while avoiding Our Harpies Are Different

I like it myself.

[up][up][up] The Yugioh ones aren't fanarts. They're actual card art.

Well the The Monster Girl Encyclopedia is pretty much every monster made into a Cute Monster Girl the reason I suggested it was it shows the "monster parts" clearly with the arms being talons and wings and the legs. Being semi cute (she is still ugly by the standards of the rest of them) was just an added bonus and since this is a Are Different snowclone type trope I didn't think that would be a problem.

Not all have arms as wings hmm some are connect on the back strange.

Has it completely flown over everyone's heads that the Classical Harpy has nipples showing?

I mean, sure, it's not a human female, but it's pretty damn close. I thought the only time NSFW stuff was ever displayed was when it's 100% relevant, like with classical sculptures. We have plenty other options on the crowner that are SFW.

It gets a free pass coz it's Classical Art

It's SFG for the same reason we have the Vitruvian Man on Anatomy Tropes.

That doesn't change the fact that we have the choice to use the SFW option.

Considering that the True Art exemption has been around forever, that's not and argument against that image, nor has it ever been.

But True Art doesn't make it automatically the best depiction of the trope, just one of the oldest. And a lot of Greco-Roman myths, were they reproduced by today's society artists, would get immediately labelled NSFW.

[edit] And the D&D harpy, at least, is the best dressed of the top three, and still looks like something you wouldn't want to mess around with  *
