Well, yeah. I assume that following up one offensive joke with more offensive jokes in an effort to be funny is still the definition of Crosses the Line Twice. Right? It isn't really all that offensive to me, but it definitely wasn't funny. And I know some people might be offended.
Mainly, it's because I do know enough about Mormon beliefs to know that the polygamy joke doesn't actually have anything to do with their actual beliefs. explanation If you're going to make Take That! jokes against real world things, Did Not Do The Research or Artistic License don't make it funnier. It just makes the joke...and you...look bad.
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)I'm going to go with Acceptable Targets on this one, but of course that's subjective for a reason.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"So is Crosses the Line Twice. Guess we'll agree to disagree.
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)I was hesitant to make an account because I felt I'd come across as being too imposing on the forums, but I check the forums here from time to time and I saw the recent posts about this whole "Moomon" thing and I think it's been taken the wrong way
Moomons AREN'T Mormons or even kind of supposed to be them. What few similarities they have are coincidental, I honestly don't know enough about Mormons to make any kind of commentary on them. It's just "Moomon" was so obvious of a cow-pun I couldn't resist doing it. It was either "Moomons" or "Cowthlics", and Moomon won. That's really the end of it.
Though there is the "polygamy" thing Liz says, but her comment on that is more a product of her own ignorance. She's lazy and is more likely getting things confused. She isn't going to know the difference between Polygamy and Polyandry. After all, she doesn't even know Polygamy is one word.
The dialog between Kit and Liz is mainly about them being ignorant and choosing to be into a religion they don't understand out of short-term convenience. It's the wrong thing to do, and Kit and Liz generally do the wrong thing.
I made a post on Nuklear Power forums about it. I kind of saw this one coming, I also considered not calling them Moomons so I could avoid it.In hindsight I probably should have called them something else. But..."Moomon" is such an awful pun...The temptation was too great! I am a weak man.
Sorry if I offended any Mormons, that was not my intent
There's nothing much to gain for me by making fun of them, besides I wouldn't want to.
If you don't think it's funny though, well, that's okay, I'm pretty sure I'm not going to make everyone laugh
. Still, I'd rather not anyone think I'm making fun of Mormons when I'm not trying to.
Sorry for the long post, I may not have really made much of a case or swayed anyone, but I felt I needed to explain it.

Well, I certainly didn't expect Speroni himself to make an appearance here on TV Tropes.
You might want to keep in mind it can be difficult for the audience (myself included) to separate author knowledge from character knowledge (just ask Bill Watterson). So treading lightly when real world parallels come up is probably best.

I probably should have set things up more before I did this, to make it clearer that Moomons aren't Mormons and Liz's ignorance about them is in character, and not my personal commentary. I'm not that skilled of a writer, so I'm gonna mess up more often than not!
Haven't thought that far ahead yet
Okay, no more responding to every post and hijacking the thread! I'll let you all have your thread back (though I might contribute to the tropes every so often).

Hi Matt! Welcome to TV Tropes and I'm glad to see you're One Of Us. Don't be ashamed to contribute when you feel the need.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Does this one suffer from the same achedule issues as How I Killed Your Master?
Likes many underrated webcomicsAwesome. So, is it a "post as I draw" kinda thing or does it have a rigid schedule?
Likes many underrated webcomicsThe plan is for the comic to update twice a week. The original plan was Mondays and Thursdays, but I don't think it's ever been consistent in that regard. I used to fret over it's lack of consistency, because I thought readers appreciated an update schedule they could rely on...But I was told it didn't really matter as much as I thought it did so I stopped complaining about it
Besides, when I started it I thought I was going to have to make my own website. Them being posted on NP.com is a good thing for me, so I'm just happy they're being posted at all!

I like "Mondays and Thursday (when I can)" works; if you happen to draw "extra" comics during the time before one goes up, it's a buffer; buffers are cool. And we don't mind the occasional problems; it makes the eventual arrival all the sweeter.
@Totemic: A Load Of Bull is a much better title then yet another Everythings Stupider With This Title Format.
Also: the recent strips? They make me want to bison comics.
That pun mooved me to tears.
Regarding updates, I follow enough comics that suffer from Schedule Slip that I tend not to notice when a previously regular one suffers from it, unless I'm really attached to a particular story arc. Anyway, if you don't commit yourself to a fixed schedule, you're out of that particular hot water by default. The flipside is that you can lose readers by not keeping to at least the semblance of a schedule.

With the awesome power of Babelfish, I provide: I thought Elizabeth's plan was to kill these men together. Why are they already dead? And where is Burke? And who is that(?)
Want a better translation? Find somebody who didn't fail German, thanks health and job.

But don't give up hope. Everyone is cured sooner or later. In the end we shall shoot you.I ran it through multiple translators, and based on what I saw, this is what I think it's supposed to say:
Fourth panel: "I thought it was Elizabeth's plan to kill these men with me. But why are they already dead? And where is Burke?"
Fifth panel: "I wonder who that possibly could be..."
Edit: Also, is anyone else having issues with the RSS feed? Isn't working properly for me.

I have to say (as a native speaker) kudos to your mastery of german and the aversion of Gratuitous German :)
May I ask where you learned it?

"You can reply to this Message!"Actually I'm lucky enough to have a friend who is German, and he is willing to do the translations for me. It's always important for me to have the dialog sound as natural as possible, and a lot of the time my friend will have to make some changes to the lines and we'll tweak it here and there so it fits better into German. I don't think I could do that w/o a native speaker helping out, so even if I knew the language I would still run it by someone if I could.
It's good to have friends!
indeed :) Tthen kudos to your friend as well, especially as the german Angel-Girl is speaking is a bit formal, exact (or rather cultured) instead of more informal which does, give the character quite an interesting difference in feeling, more stoic and cool, than Kit and Liz.
Which does make her seem to fit the Cold Sniper trope.
Thats at least how I perceive it from the point of another native speaker, and might I ask if this does come from you or his rather his translation, if you pardon my curiosity.

"You can reply to this Message!"

Huh? I didn't see anything there but a bunch of jokes at the expense of Mormonism. Mean-spirited maybe, but Crosses the Line Twice?
