Frankly, the sheer amount of Gwen wank we've gotten over the years has gotten extremely tedious. I'd like to think Marvel is smart enough not to bring her back, as it would greatly dilute the effect of one of the greatest comics stories ever written, but I honestly wouldn't put it past them. Now granted, of the above mentioned, the resurrection of Bucky actually turned out to be one of the best things to happen to Captain America in years, and Jason Todd's had promise, even if it wasn't properly executed; and more relevantly, Norman Osborn's (while making no sense) was a good move overall, but this is one resurrection we can most definitely do without.
Still, I wouldn't be at all surprised if it happens.
I'll turn your neocortex into a flowerpot!
That..isn't that bad an idea, if you had to bring Gwen back, but would kind of rob the daughter of having her own character for the sake of bringing her back, which is not ok. Personally, considering all the good things I've heard about Spider-Girl, I'd prefer May Parker getting the Terry Mc Ginnis treatment (minus Adam Beechen screwing it up, of course).
Frankly, I'm actually surprised Gwen Stacy's been dead this long. I doubt any new editors will touch her moldy corpse at this point.
Was Jack Mackerel. | i rite gudI personally don't see a reason to bring her back. It'd piss off a lot, and I mean a lot, of fans and wouldn't open many long term writing opportunities. That was the justification of OMD, that it'd annoy fans short term but they needed to do that for long term story writing.
I can see some story purposes but not much for the long term. So even if your Gwen Stacy returns story is good you will probably temporarily if not permanently lose more fans than it would bring in.

Er, that's "May" as in "Mayday" Parker, rather than Aunt May. My bad there (unless you already knew that).
Oh, really? I haven't really read any Spider-Girl aside from the first few issues a long while ago, so I wouldn't know.
She came back as a clone in 1974, during the original Clone Saga. Said clone's presumably still alive, although she hasn't been seen since the 90s.
Was gonna mention that. Although the whole clone saga and the ststus of clones thing is hella confusing. My guess is that if any Gwen clones haven't been written out of cannon then it's the next best thing. Maybe someday a talented writer will write a nice story that brings back some clone that's been conviently forgotten by the cannon.
Or you know, maybe it'll turn out she never died and it was an actor hired by Norman Osborne for no reason and the real Gwen Stacy. Wait, there's actually more reason for Gwen to have been replaced by an actor than Aunt May. Granted, pretty much anyone makes more sense than aunt may.
According to recent interviews, bringing Gwen back was considered at the time of One More Day, but they couldn't find any good reason to do so.
Yes I just mentioned that in the first post. From what I read the original plan was that Mephisto was going to alternate reality so that when Harry first started having drug problems, Peter would help get into rehab and thus Norman never snapped back into being the Green Goblin and never killed Gwen and subsquently Peter and Mary-Jane never got together and Harry never became the Goblin 2 or died. But that would have fucked over 30 years of continuity beyond belief, not to mention if Gwen hadn't been killed by Norman she and Peter would have been married and the whole point of OMD was to get a single Peter. So they just simplified it to everything happened in the original timeline except Peter and MJ didn't go through with the wedding and just decided to live together for years. And Harry never died and everyone's memories was wiped of knowing Peter was Spider-man (along with all public records apparently)
Why couldn't they have just given Peter and MJ a divorce again?
Your gonna go far kid...Because divorce is immoral.
Also, I've been meaning to read Ultimate Spider Man, and apparently in that 'verse, Gwen dies but comes back- so, it has happened already.
HodorI was going to say that resurrecting Gwen Stacy would open a black hole of suck that would consume the Marvel Universe.
Then I realized, that didn't happen with the Clone Saga, so it can't happen. Nothing is sacred. I'd threaten to stop reading comics, but I did that even before the Clone Saga.
Under World. It rocks!^ He probably did it. I mean seriously we should rename Running the Asylum to Joe Quesada is in charge. And I'm only half kidding.
And I don't count Gwen clone or Ultimate Gwen coming back as the actual Gwen coming back. For now she has thankfully been allow to rest (aside from the writers need to bring up every year and play homage to the bridge scene and have her have an affair) but with all the exposure she's been getting in media adaptions that she has never gotten before and the way Marvel is I wouldn't put it past them to try in the near future.
Of course the simple solution to all Marvel's problems is too pull a Crisis on Infinite Earth's and completly wipe clean MU with a blank slate. I know they made some sort of statement:We did it right the first time. But obviously they didn't with all these quasi but not quite reboots like Brand New Day. Seriously Marvel just start from the beginning that way you get what you want and the readers don't have to read about Deals with the Devils.
Your gonna go far kid...Couldn't hurt their chances. You can't gey any worse than One More Day. Plots Holes you can drive 20 Semi Trucks side by side through? Check. out of character movements? Check. Pathetic Agenda to serve? Check? Broken Aesop? Check.
Your gonna go far kid...I think Marvel had the better idea just making an all new universe, but keeping the old one around.

Wizard Needs Food Badly

There is saying no one stays dead in comics except Uncle Ben, Bucky, and Jason Todd. But perhaps a more accurate statement would be no one stays dead in comics except Uncle Ben and Gwen Stacy. What with both Bucky and Jason Todd having been revived. Yet Gwen has stayed dead for nearly 40 years. But my question how much longer until the comics dig Gwen out of her grave? Its no secret Joe Quesada tried to bring her back in Brand New Day along with Harry but was persuaded not to. That was in 2007. Since then Gwen has been/will be featured prominently in Spectaculat Spider-man and the new Amazing Spider-man reboot and according to IMDB cast the new Ultimate Spider-man show. With media adaptions having an huge influence on comics I wouldn't be too surprise if it was only a matter of time before Gwen comes back to the comics. Its funny how earlier Spider-man adaptations conciensly avoided using Gwen because she was dead in the comics. The 90's cartoon elected not to use her for that very reason so instead decided to compensate by splitting her traits between Felicia Hardy (who bore more than a passing resemblance to Steve Ditko's Gwen) and Mary Jane Watson. The Raimi films had a Mary-Jane who was suspisciosly more Gwen like than MJ like.
