"So... how does this work?" Akira asked, leaning toward Kyubey. "Do I just say 'make me a Magical Girl', or is there more to it?" She looked around the small cafe; there weren't that many people around, but they would definitely notice anything magical going on. "And do I get a transformation sequence?" That was an important part of it, after all; the form of the thing was paramount. There was a way things were done.

It's been fun.Natsumi had wanted to bang her head on the desk when Akira had mentioned the Transformation Sequence. She had just discovered the magic existed, and she was asking about that?
Didn't she realize the far-reaching implications that the confirmation of the supernatural entailed? Or the ability to wish for anything? That wasn't something you rush into. Which was why Natsumi was still technically a normal schoolgirl. But she wasn't sure how long that was going to last.

Reaction Image Repository"You just have to tell me your wish and I'll handle the rest. Though it would be better if we did it somewhere private..." Kyubey told the girl, as he started to look around for suitable place to make the contract.
"Look at that, quite a cheeky one I found. Threatening me and everything. Say what, I'm not leaving you alone. What do you have to say about it?" The black haired girl communicated, looking straight at Chien with a threatening look on her face.

Chien sighed.
If you say so.
She left the store without buying her dinner. She could survive a night without dinner, surely.
Rolling her eyes, she walked into the side alley, then quickly transformed, taking her whip in hand.
She jumped up to the roof, in plain view of everyone walking along the streets.
Private? Ha. As if. If she wants to fight me, she can do it where people can see.
There are too many toasters in my chimney!Chien reacted instinctively, throwing herself forwards. She tumbled off the roof, just managing to hold on to the roof edge.
She lets go, allowing herself to fall. Sh then presses herself against the store's wall.
Did she really just-
She could have killed someone!

There are too many toasters in my chimney! That which the girl used to attack Chien struck with a lot of force the roof of the little convenience store... with enough strength to go right through the roof and into the store within.
Some yelling could be heard from inside of it, together with sounds debris and shelves falling.
"What? You thought I'm playing around with you?" The girl's voice said calmly inside Chien's head just as the people passing by stopped and looked into the the store, wondering just what had just happened.

"Well now, isn't that quite a dangerous assumption for you to be making?"
As soon as she finished transmitting these words the girl attacked once again, if Chien took the time to look back, she would see that what the girl was throwing was a large metal mace. While the girl in the black dress was obviously on some rooftop nearby, her location wasn't immediately apparent to the Chien as she ran.
This time it struck at the ground near Chien, breaking the concrete of the sidewalk with a powerful crash.
Gonna borrow Kyubey for a bit, Daltar. That okay?
"This should be fine right here," Kyubey said, hopping down from Akira's shoulder as they rounded the corner into the quiet little park behind the coffeeshop. "Natsumi, you may want to stand back a little bit."
Akira swallowed, suddenly nervous. "Is this going to be dangerous to her?"
Kyubey smiled - well, Kyubey closed his eyes, shaking his head. "Not at all, not at all! In fact, Natsumi, if you'd like, you should stand close enough to catch Akira after the contract is signed. Almost everyone falls over," he explained, padding closer to Akira.
"Well then", he said. "Sasaki Akira, will you sign the contract with me and become a Puella Magi?" The words had a ritual feel to them, and Akira swallowed again before she knelt down, eyes fixed on Kyubey's.
"I will," she said softly. "I wish..." Images flashed unbidden in her mind. "I want to meet..." A flash of green eyes below a fringe of glossy black hair. "...the love of my life." As soon as the last word left her lips, an unbearable heat blossomed in the center of her chest. Akira clutched at her breastbone, unable to speak, and soon a shining grey oval - almost too bright to look at - rose from below her hands.
"This is your fate, Sasaki Akira," Kyubey said, watching the proceedings with interest. "Now, take a hold of your power!" Akira reached up and caught the light-

It's been fun.Apparently so. I guess you're just like the rest of them, then. Always so selfish, looking out for yourselves, no respect for others.
Chien vaults up as the mace sails into the concrete, landing on the roof of a nearby car. She jumps onto the rooftop, then starts running again.
I guess I don't have to hold back, then. I'll show you the same consideration you show them.
There are too many toasters in my chimney! The girl didn't answer anything else out of Chien instead she ran through the roof after her.
The black haired girl's magical girl form was quite different from her regular appearance. She was wearing a metal knight helmet and armor on top of an turquoise and white colored dress. The mace she carried was connected to her gauntlets by a chain just like several parts of her armor were connected to one another by loose chains, with some decorative links on them.
Natsumi slumped into bed.
Wishing for true love? What a cliche...
Although I suppose it's a cliche for a reason. But even that isn't the biggest problem. She wished to meet the love of her life, not to fall in love with him. It can't end well.....
She rolled over, trying to make herself comfortable. She could practically see Akira meeting the perfect man and falling head over heels for the guy, only for him to run off somewhere else. The girl would be crushed... Natsumi could see Akira sobbing. She shuddered. Maybe she was just overthinking things. Maybe Kyubey wasn't actually evil, and had caused the wish to happen as intended. Maybe everything would be alright...
@Red Savant: You could probably add one more post describing Akira's MG outfit and everything. Then I'll go back to musing and Chien can finish her battle.

Reaction Image RepositoryArgh, another mace user!
Akira regained consciousness slowly. There was a gentle pressure on her chest, and as she opened her eyes the first thing she saw was Kyubey, his gaze intent on her face. The little white cat straightened up as she stirred, and he hopped down to the grass beside her. "Welcome back!" he chirped.
"What happened?" Akira asked, a little shakily. She became aware of something warm beneath her head at the same time as she saw Natsumi above her. "Ha-Haruna-san," she said, quickly sitting up off the other girl's knees and trying to ignore the surprising warmth in her face. "Did - did you -" Before she could finish the sentence, Kyubey stepped closer to her and brushed up against her leg to get her attention.
"This is your Soul Gem," he said, nosing the object resting in the palm of her hand. It was shaped like an egg, with a cage of golden metal extending from the plated base to an elaborate little rook-shaped cap at the top. The stone pulsed a warm grey color. "This is the source of your powers as a Puella Magi," Kyubey continued, "so be careful not to lose it!" He closed his eyes again, smiling. "Go ahead, give it a try."
"R-right." Akira, who had just about gotten her bearings back, lost them again as she studied the gem. It didn't look like it had any buttons or anything, so how exactly was this supposed to work? After a moment, she frowned. For some reason, she felt like if she held it like this...
The Soul Gem melted into a stream of energy that flowed over and through her body, leaving behind that same strange feeling of warmth. Akira yelped as her school uniform blew into shreds, but the bands of energy around her chest and hips almost immediately solidified into new clothing. The rest of the outfit followed soon after, and when the glow faded enough for Akira to look down at herself again, she couldn't resist a gasp.
Her uniform had been replaced by a black-and-white paneled dress that hung to shortly below the knees; it was lavishly embroidered at the seams and across the chest. A warm summer breeze brushed across the bare skin of her shoulders; the sleeves were literally detached, and seemed to stay on her arms of their own accord rather than through elastics or anything. Her uniform leggings were a little longer, as well, and they'd turned white; her shoes had become almost bulky with armor, but they weighed no more than her school shoes did.
Akira shared a disbelieving glance with Natsumi. "In the name of peace, love and justice," she tried, laughing weakly.
It's been fun.I apologize in advance for the Wall of Text
As Natsumi drifted off to sleep, she was bombarded with mental images of Akira, clad in her chess themed costume, leaping from rooftop to rooftop, shelling dozens of scissorcrabs with her clubs. The girl finally came to rest on top of a skyscraper, the tallest in the city.
Next to her was a vague silhouette of a boy. Even without any discernible features, she could tell that he was handsome. She watched in horror as Akira leaned in to share a kiss with the shadow, only for the specter to explode into shadow, throwing Akira from the rooftop. Natsumi saw herself running towards the building, catching the falling girl easily despite the height from which she had dropped.
The tears were still wet on Akira's cheeks as Natsumi wrapped her arms around her. Natsumi patted Akira's back lightly as Akira cried into her shoulder. She could hear herself whispering into the other girl's ear..."Don't worry. You'll be alright. I'm here. Don't worry..."
Natsumi's eyes snapped open.
"What the hell...?" She awkwardly heaved herself upright in her bed, her sheet wrapped tightly around her. She wrenched an arm free and put a hand to her forehead. "What was with that dream?" She mumbled to herself. She squinted at the nearby clock. 3:27. Maybe the whole thing with the witches and magic was just a dream. Her throat ached as she swallowed.
Natsumi wrestled herself free of her sheets and stumbled weakly towards the kitchen. The light was still on, and she could smell the pungent scent of her sister's coffee from the hallway. The door squeaked as she pushed it open. Her sister still sat at the table, in the same position she had been last time Natsumi had seen her. The book was different, but everything else was unchanged.
"What are you doing up at this hour?" She put the book on the table.
"I could ask you the same question." Natsumi muttered. "I'm just getting a drink. Couldn't get to sleep."
"Are you suuuuure something didn't happen after school? Come on, I'm not going to tell anybody. Well, nobody that would affect you, anyway..."
"I said it was nothing like that!" Natsumi slammed the fridge door shut. She took a huge swallow from her bottle of juice. "I was just studying with one of my classmates!"
"Is he cute?"
"It's a she."
"Oh, I didn't realize that you swung that way..."
"Shut up."
"So what does she look like?"
"Oh, fine." Natsumi was too tired to bother fighting about this. "A little shorter than me, black hair, ponytail, glasses..." She squinted as she tried to think of Akira's other defining characteristics. "Brown eyes...sort of kind looking, I guess. She keeps to herself a lot, but she's a nice girl. If she would let her hair down she would be kinda cute..." She trailed off as she searched for more words. Her sister jumped on the silence.
"Are you sure you don't have a thing for this girl?"
Natsumi's eye twitched.
"How many times to I have to tell you...?" Frustrated, she took another long swig of juice.
"You shouldn't drink so much of that stuff. All that sugar is going to keep you up. At least I can sleep in tomorrow. Go back to bed."
"You're probably right." Natsumi rubbed her temples. "I don't even know what to think anymore. Goodnight."
She stuffed the juice back in the fridge and headed back down the hallway.
What is it with her? Why would she think that I have a thing for anybody? She flopped into her bed and pulled the sheets over her head. I mean, I guess Akira is kinda cute...and she did look good in her costume...what the heck am I thinking!? I've only known her for like a day! And after all the weird crap that happened today why wouldn't she end up in one of my dreams? It would be weirder if I didn't dream about all the stuff that happened today...
She began to drift off again and the images of the past day began pouring back into her head. She could see Akira standing in front of Kyubey.
"I want to meet...the love of my life."
Natsumi sprang upright, feeling like all of the breath had been knocked out of her body. In that moment, she had broken into a cold sweat. No...that can't... She took a deep breath, trying to get her heart to stop pounding against the inside of her chest.
I...I can't be part of the wish...what if...
She shoved her face into her pillow, trying futilely to think of anything else.

Reaction Image Repository"This is amazing!" Akira shouted, squinting against the air rushing into her eyes. "Oh, right..." "This is amazing, Kyubey!" she corrected herself, landing squarely on the edge of a square greystone skyscraper. "I can't believe I'm actually leaping tall buildings in a single bound! My whole body just feels so light." She knelt at the edge and peered down to the streets four stories down. She didn't think anyone had heard her yell, but it was probably best to be careful.
"I suppose I should check around for Witches," she said to herself, a few buildings and several daring jumps later. The Soul Gem on the back of her neck turned into grey mist for a split second, reforming in the palm of her hand. It glowed just the same as it had before; it got no brighter, not even when she turned a slow 360. "All quiet here, I guess?" Akira mused.
She sat down on the edge, closing her eyes and letting the warmth leave her and flow back into the stone in her hand; it melted into a ring around her middle finger. "Hard to believe that was just this morning," she murmured, kicking her feet idly against the side of the building. "I wouldn't dream of jumping now - though I would be fine, I'm sure," she added after a moment, shooting an appraising look at the sidewalk below. "Maybe later," she decided. She let out a sigh, laying back on the roof. "I wonder what Natsumi-chan's doi -" Akira choked off in mid-sentence. "Haruna-san!" she upbraided herself, sitting up. "Haruna-san. Not Natsumi-chan." Come on, Akira. I've only really known her for a day, after all. And yet -
And yet what?

It's been fun.Chien throws herself to the side, ducking under the chains. One clips her shoulder, but she spins with it, not letting it wrap around her.
She turns to the other Magi, idly flipping her whip around. They stared at each other, measuring their opponents.
She's tough. Not as tough as she thinks she is, though.
Chien suddenly snaps out with her whip. She aims it at the Magi's face, and cracks it once, experimentally, seeing how good the girls' reflexes are.
These Magi always think they're the best, that they're invincible. Well... we're not. We're as mortal as anyone else.
If she doesn't step down, I'll show her exactly how mortal she is.
There are too many toasters in my chimney! The armored girl quickly moves her left hand to intercept the whip before it strikes at her helmet. The whip connects with a loud noise at a barrier a couple inches away from the girl's gauntlet.
"Heh... my wish might have ended up being useless... but at the very least I like it's nature" She says as in a flurry of movement she shoots her chains at both sides of Chien and then throws her mace to strike at the Magical Girl from above.
The armored girl is surprised by Chien suddenly pulling on her chain. She almost falls flat on her face, though she manages to catch herself by taking hasty steps forward. However the moment she recovers from the surprise, the girl grins and instead starts to run towards Chien to tackle her while the Magical Girl is surrounded by all sides by her chains.

"About time you got back. I had to resort to cup ramen again." Natsumi's sister sat at the kitchen table, balancing her chair perilously on two legs, with her feet on the tabletop. Clenched in her teeth was a highlighter. She closed her book and turned to face the door, staring over the tops of her glasses at Natsumi. "How did your little date go?"
"I told you already, it's nothing like that." Natsumi tossed her bag onto the table. "One of my classmates was having trouble studying, so she wanted me to look over her notes." She had rehearsed the story at least a dozen times on her way home. "Do you have another entrance exam coming up?"
Her sister nodded as she dragged the highlighter across a phrase in the book. "This weekend."
"I'll leave you alone to study, then. I've had a long day anyway."
"'Night."
Natsumi closed the door to her room and sat at her computer. With a sigh she pulled up the chapter that she had been working on the night before. She knew that she should be thinking about everything that had happened, but right now it was the last thing she wanted to worry about.
She could think about the whole wish thing in the morning. Maybe she would wake up to discover that the whole thing had been a dream.
EDIT: Oh balls, I screwed up the chronology....
FLASHBACK TIME!
She closed the document and rested her forehead in her hands. The events of the afternoon had etched themselves into her mind. She was sitting in her room, but her mind was still in the cafe, watching Akira mess around with her coffee. For all of her stories, this was one twist she hadn't seen coming.
Okay, Red Savant, back to wish making. Sorry about that.
