On the online fame and such, I'm actually thinking of writing my thesis on that stuff. Basicaly, how it doesn't amtter that the celebrity is limited. T Here's the solidarity of the subculture, and that's all that means anything. Spoony doesn't care if he's not a household name in his hometown (ok seriously, the guy who went to ask people about there? Fucking creepy), that's not what's important. What's importnat is when you go to cons, or when you meet other people you work with online, when you meet your fans. You get to have that star moment.
Similar thing has been going on in the geek subculture pretty much since the 70's or so, as long as conventions have been organized. There are the small time celebrities and Big Name Fans, and it doesn't matter if you're invisible to society, it's those who understand you who are important.
As for making money out of it, I'm pretty sure everyone has some plan for if things don't work out. It's like the hundreds of small town garage bands that move in to the big city to try make it big. Even if they don't, there's something to fall back on, and when you're old, you still remember that one summer playing gigs and being sure you're gonna hit big, and evenn if you fell on your ass, it was the best time of your life.
You know who else wasn't a big name in his hometown? Jesus.
I was going to say "you know what other Jew wasn't a big name in his hometown" but I think my only basis for thinking Antwiler is Jewish is the fact that his first name is Noah and Furiko Maru was attracted to him
^^ XD What, that's admissable evidence now?
Also, to the best of my knowledge Kwanzaa is... well, unless the Jewish person in question is of Ethiopian extraction I'm not sure they'd be celebrating it.

Really? mine was his nose and his hair. And I have a lite Jew-sense.
Oh right Busy Street, I don't see why the site makes it their business to care that people are making money off of internet fame, it's not your life to care for. If I was being unreasonable I would say it reeks of jealousy, but there are likely other motives.
If that was such an issue why aren't you attacking say, Loading Ready Run or Moviebob (No wait, apparently Bob's been attacked recently for his Game Anti-thinker incident. Okay, you guys can have that one without issue.)? Why exacerbate a Small Name, Big Ego issue that may or may not exist.

The Blog The Art@Mousa: Well, I gave my reasons. But I can't exactly speak for everyone's opinion there.
If you are interested in finding out, why not register there and ask that question? Long as you remain polite, and don't resort to the "Don't like it, Don't watch it", excuse, perhaps they'll be kind enough to answer your question in return.

Okay, now something interesting could happen, it could even be a kind of observation experiment: Lord Kat just announced he's quiting his show Until We Win and gives his reasons, so naturally somebody it's going to point this out to the people of Busy Street, and then we'll get to see how are they going to react and blog about this.
Does anyone wants to take any bets?
I can't have you close, so I become a ghost and I watch you, I watch you.Actually, Lord Kat is one of the reviewers that Busy Street actually likes, along with Phelous and Brad Jones. Sage also has a couple of fans well, (Least among some of the posters. His review for YDKJ wasn't exactly beloved by the guy in charge of the site and he absolutely savaged it. A good number posters thought he was unfairly nitpicking Bennett there and called him out on that.)
Really, the only reviewers that Busy Street really can't stand primarily revolves around Spoony, Joe, DW and Sean Fausz. They often take a jab at Doug, but that's to be expected, given that he's the face of the site.

I'm pretty sure they don't attack MB too much because the site is almost always laser-focused on That Guy With The Glasses, and aren't attacking Loading Ready Run because neither their fans or the LRR crew probably read Busy Street.
Whatever tomorrow brings I'll be there. With open arms and open eyes.@Ko B: Phelous? Personally I think he's a weak link, because his hammy sarcasm is really unbearable.
Wow. Those guys just devastated KoB for basically trying to enhance mutual understanding in the internet.
The people on this thread have been very polite, and aside from a few posters on the first page, have given well-founded reasons for their criticism of Busy Street and Busy Street's posters.
Also, BS officially just said that they really DO hate TGWTG with every fiber of their soul. I strenghten my earlier statement of cowardice regarding the real-life meeting.

XD.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAAHAHAHAH.
Oh man. And that is where you cross the line from angry critic to kind of a jerk.
But I am still inclined to say just because they decided to not be rude about their opinions to the guys does not make them cowards. -_-

Read my stories! How dare they resort to using ads in order to fund the massive amount of data their site contains!
Also, guys, I think you're overlooking the possibility of a trap. Perhaps that IS Ko B, and he's trying to trick us yet again.
My only goal in life is to ensure that Mousa dies of a stress-induced heart attack by the age of 23. READ THISI remember all the shit from BS from the past, and I was gonna post something considering how civil it was here. Only reason I haven't is because my post was gonna be the equivalent of a 5 page essay. But now it's no use if Kob's really just an anonymous white knight. To this new revelation, I respond with this.
◊
Also, it looks like a troper tried to explain how the thread was here, and then one of the BS guys replied by telling him/her to "go back to tropes and keeping track of how many times you can find references to incest between family members on Wizards of Waverly Place"
◊
Anonyomous White Knight the fuck? Dude, I think you're reading a bit too much into it. For one thing, a White Knight does not fit the description at all in the slightest. Second of all, whether he is well known in BS is irrelevant.
Read my stories! To be fair, we do have that page, which fills me with shame, but yeah, they tend to forget this is a wiki, and thus written by lots of people
I can't stop listening to thisThe BS link isn't loading for me, but I gather they're calling Ko B out for trying to mediate between us and them. Nice cult behaviour, because snooping around your opponents neighbourhood wasn't creepy enough.
[ed.] RE: Incest trope pages on the wiki, they trouble me too, but hey, it's something that happens in fiction, thus we document it. Saying everyone on the wiki is obsessed with it is like saying everyone on 4chan are pedophiles because there are a lot of CP threads on it.
For the record, I don't even know what Wizards of Waverly Place is.

Jethro:
Who are you?
No really.
Last I checked, we don’t have a “Ko B” who writes for us. Last I checked, we didn’t need anyone to “defend thy honor”. So, in your well educated brain, as you seem to have, what prompted you to decided to make a thread about BS on TV Tropes, a site we’ve deemed one of the worst on the internet for TGWTG circle jerks. What made you think we needed someone to white knight for us?
And you brought it up yourself in the thread, you are a poster in the comments here at BS. Actually, before I get into it, let’s quote something you’ve stated.
Keep in mind, I am just a poster there, and I’m not in complete solidarity with everything BS says there. In regards to the whole Nerd Rage thing, I suppose this quote from their website can perhaps explain: “Please do not take anything on the site personally, we are intentionally trying to exploit people for our own amusement, which is very cost effective if you think about it long enough.” So I guess, in a way, you guys are kind of right. Busy Street is something of a troll site. An ED or Something Awful for internet culture. I personally think they do deliberately over-exaggerate some of the articles on the site in order to provoke fanboy rage. But then again, that’s what ED also tends to do quite often. And they mention not to take whatever they say seriously. Course, given the way they write their articles, it can be easy to assume they really are as obsessive, bitter, and rude on BS as they are in real life.
I absolutely adore the fact you brought up our real day-to-day lives, when you know nothing about us. It’s funny how you claim we are obsessive. We had one week recently where we didn’t do a damn thing related to TGWTG, and you know what we got in return from the people who read here? “YOU SUCK BS GO BACK TO TGWTG.” So we do that, but then we get called obsessive. We write about many other things as well, but those get ignored for the TGWTG bullshit we write. But again, we are the obsessive ones.
It’s all about perspective, and you obviously feel you have some sort of grasp about how BS works.
You don’t. You aren’t even close to knowing anything about this site works. If you did, you would know that we have a strict “We don’t go to sites to start-up shit” policy. That’s all you did too, you just re-started the same arguments everyone who hates us has. We have two main places where we post about us, HFC and DHI forums. That’s it.
“BS IS A BUNCH A TROLLS.”
“THEY ARE HATEFUL PEOPLE.”
“IF THEY DON’T LIKE IT THEY DON’T HAVE TO WATCH IT.”
If they really wanted to have a discussion with us, they know we have a public email, busystreetblog@gmail.com. They have all the rights in the world to contact us.
TGWTG is nothing more than people sitting in front of a camera and bitching about movies and games for Ad Revenue. We can do the same thing, but without the annoying Metro PCS ad. Problem is, we aren’t in character; we actually feel this way about the site. Nerd rage or not, there really is nothing funny about overused memes, character cameos, and saying something is shit, for the sake of it being shit. We tried to play the “constructive criticism” card, but people seem to ignore that. Apparently “abuse” works. Now stop reviewing as your usernames, and start being honest and clever with your reviews. *holds a rubber chicken*
Also, I understand you are a fan of both sites, and you are allowed to do what you will, but a thread on TV Tropes? Was that really needed if you sit back and look at it?
Read my stories!

Yeah, that's a pretty odd way to rate something, and the article itself is kinda...off, to say the least. Overall, I give it 2 John Stewart Mills, a Paul von Hindenburg and 1/2 an Evo Morales.
