So, did you watch anime when you were kids? What shows? And did you know it was anime?

Personally, almost all the shows I watched as a young kid were anime: 3000 Leagues in Search of Mother, Adventures of Peter Pan, The Wizard of Oz, Nils Holgersson, The Moomins, Bosco Adventures, Mrs Pepperpot, Alice in Wonderland, Hey Bumboo, Alfred J Kwak

The first anime I watched knowing it came from Japan were Pokemon and Digimon, when I was 11. It took me a few more years to find out that my favorite childhood shows were also anime.

Sailor Moon, Ocean Girl, The Prince Of Atlantis, and a couple of others, but I always hated, hated HATED DBZ for some reason. Oh, and Alfred J. Kwack deserves an honourary mention as well. ;)

The first one I remember watching was Sailor Moon when I was 12 I think. It was only a couple episodes at my sister's house, because she had a different cable provider, but soon enough our providor picked up Cartoon Network and lo, the gateway drug supplier known as Toonami came into my life.

Dragonball Z and Pokemon are the obvious ones. There was also Ronin Warriors and Outlaw Star. Somehow, I also managed to catch some Battle Of The Planets, too. I don't know how (I grew up in the 90s — I don't think it was on at that time), but it's there in my memory.

Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball GT, Saint Seiya, Bt X, Slayers, Pokemon, Voltron, Robotech, G Force/Battle of the Planets/Gatchaman, Magic Knight Rayearth... and some other stuff I don't remember.

Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball Z, Gundam Wing, G Gundam, Ronin Warriors, Astro Boy, Gigantor, Voltron (lion in particular though I also watched vehicle), Cyborg009, Hamtaro, Kimba The White Lion and Leo the White Lion, Tenchi Muyo, Rurouni Kenshin, Yu Yu Hakusho, Inuyasha, Cardcaptor Sakura, Lost Universe, Ranma Half, Digimon Adventure, Monster Rancher, Pokemon (as well as the manga and Pokemon Special), Shaman King, Ultimate Muscle, Saber Marionette J, Saint Seiya, .hack//SIGN, some of Neon Genesis Evangelion, anything that aired during giant robot week on Toonami, Yu Gi Oh, Outlaw Star, Cowboy Bebop, Fighting Foodons, Flint The Time Detective, Trigun Speed Racer and a number of other things many of which were really old. Even though it's not anime Johnny Sokko And His Flying Robot and Godzilla movies. Ultra Man was watched too.

The identity of one of those old things has been remembered thanks to reading the thread...Battle Of The Planets.

I am counting "up till I was 12" as things I grew up on.

Oh. I only watched part of it as a child, but Akira. The ending stuck in my memory and gave me nightmares.

Yet another one of these threads that makes me feel old.

Astro Boy Voltron (both versions), The Mysterious Cities Of Gold and using 12 as the cut off date Samurai Pizza Cats, Sailor Moon and Teknoman sneak in there as well.

I've looked at The Mysterious Cities of Gold, but have never seen it...and now I know what it is so I can! Awesome.

My father has brought me some joy in my life and these old cartoons he taped or bought tapes of were part of that joy...

I watched Sailor Moon, Speed Racer and Dragonball when I was little, but when we moved out to Victoria I couldn't find Sailor Moon anywhere; it was very sad.

Then when we moved back to Ontario and I met Laurel, my love of all things magical girl reasserted itself. She introduced me to the later seasons of Sailor Moon, along with Devil Hunter Yohko, Escaflowne, Dragon Ball Z, Angel Sanctuary, and a ton of others. :3 She was a great sempai.

Doraemon is my very first manga and anime series. Oh yes, it brings up so much nostalgia. Ever since I watched Doraemon, I have wanted to have a robot as my best friend.

Pokemon (which I'm still watching), Digimon and some Yu-gi-oh, here. I think that's all, unless there's one I've forgotten or there's something that I never knew was anime.

Dragon Ball Z (Funny, because I used to hate that series, mainly because of GT... Now it's one of my favourites), then we have Pokemon, Digimon, Yu Yu Hakusho, Ruroni Kenshin, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Corrector Yui, Gundam Wing and... Well, three years ago I wasa introduced to Full Metal Alchemist, and later Elfen Lied.

Dominion Tank Police. Yeah, it's just an OVA, but me and my dad must have watched it together a dozen times over the years.

... No wonder i'm such a perv.

Oh, and all that stuff everyone else said too. Dragon Ball Z, Sailor Moon, Pokemon and all that.

You are not alone.

Aside from the stuff everyone else mentioned (DBZ, Pokemon, Sailor Moon), their's Cowboy Bebop, which my Dad introduced me to. And some other anime I caught on Adult Swim when I was in my early teens, like Full Metal Alchemist, Ghost In The Shell, Big O, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Eureka7, FLCL and Samurai Champloo. Their's also Super Gals, which was shown a lot in my anime club back in high school.

I watched many animes when I as a kid, DBZ, Samurai X, Card Captor Sakura, Speed Racer, Pokemon... But the one I could say I "grew up" with is Saint Seiya Knights Of The Zodiac. I watched it since before I can remember and it was with the first manga I ever bought.

Dragonball, Gundam and everything else I could find that had giant robots in them. I think I saw Record Of Lodoss War and Yokoyama Mitsuteru Sangokushi too.

Pokemon and a little later DBZ and SakuraCardcaptor, but this were when I was over ten years old, but the two that I(like almost every latinamerican that grew up in the nineties) really can say I grew up with were Los Super Campeones(The Super Champions) and Los Caballeros del Zodiaco(Knigths of the Zodiac).
