People tend to be wary of editing away things in the YMMV sections, but if it’s outright wrong there’s no problem with changing it.
As for Shadow - amusingly, there have been attempts to rewrite Shadow to be more Vegeta-like in the past (most recently the infamous mandates the IDW comic has to deal with) and fans generally dislike them because they pull him out of character.

Ah, I definitely heard about Dragon Ball Abridged having legal woes. I just thought you meant they had indicated they were considering taking action against Sega. Of course, it's a lot easier for a company to take on a Youtuber or even a decent sized team of Youtubers than a whole other company.
My musician pageWhich is refreshing. Thank god for that. Though I did read another claim on one of the IDW Sonic pages saying Flynn did it all himself?
Anyway I'd also blame Super Mario Bros. Z for influencing fans that way too. Lord knows the kreygasms hit a global fever pitch when Mecha Sonic said "I will compress you in a fatal manner" in Scrapnik Island.
Are explosions science? You’re telling me, no cap I created my own oc based of Cell, with everything know of Starline making him essentially inspired by Dr Gero, Willy and some Broken Pedestal fanboy type of villain like Buddy from Incredibles as an example well as whenever I saw Surge n Kit battle prior to their return in #67. Complete with bio and everything.

He who controls the present controls the past. He who controls the past, controls the future.Well that was the writer himself whom is a fan of it and decided to add in as a Shout-Out internal homage of sorts for fans of that series, ironically is ironic seeing Sonic n Shadow being the Trunks of their universe when Silver is essentially it and he even had unironically a DEATH BATTLE! with Trunks

He who controls the present controls the past. He who controls the past, controls the future.I've always maintained that Shadow and Vegeta don't have much in common outside their rival role, because I'm used to both characters in Japanese where they pretty much talk, sound, and act nothing alike. Vegeta's a hot-headed guy who talks in a rough manner and is often expressing his emotions loudly, whether that be laughing or yelling angrily. Shadow is a quiet guy who talks in a more formal manner and who barely shows any emotion unless pushed pretty far, and even then it's more understated that how Vegeta acts. He does have the edge to him where he's entirely confident in his abilities and doesn't hesitate to give pointed insults to people annoying him, and you could say that's similar to Vegeta though Vegeta spends much of DBZ fluctuating between the two extremes of gloating over how awesome and undefeatable he is and lying on the ground crying about how stupid he is after getting his ass beat for getting too cocky, which neither of those extreme is really how Shadow acts. Even how they act when they're not fighting, Vegeta spends his free time training to get stronger and try to get ahead of Goku, while Shadow spends his free time staring at sunsets and brooding.
Well the special stages in Sonic 3K were inspired by King Kai's planet and Sonic and Tails' friendship was inspired by Piccolo and Kid Gohan, for other points nobody mentioned. Like I said that's a nice starting point, a jumping on or jumping off point to develop something of your own.
Also Shadow's okay using guns or bikes or using Chaos Control a lot, something the Vegeta of later series who's constantly "PRIDE PRIDE PRIDE PRIDE PRIDE PRIDE PRIDE PRIDE" would refuse to do. (funny considering how much of a joyous cheating fuck he was on Namek)

Are explosions science? You also have to gather seven magic crystal objects to move the plot forward.
I remember in one issue of the Archie Sonic comic, the fanart section
at the back had the cast of Sonic playing the roles of the cast of Dragonball Z. And this would have been long before Shadow or Silver.

Yeah, I think the Chaos Emeralds being inspired by the Dragon Balls is the most noticeable, direct, and specific. But even then they're definitely their own thing with their own rules.
My musician page~Randal Drake, you don't need to put an arrow after using a quote block, the arrows are typically used to indicate you're replying to the post above yours, if you're already using the quoteblock we can see the context you're replying to already.
But yeah, basically the Chaos Emeralds is the most direct comparison to Dragon Ball.
Although if we want to talk about actual factual inspirations, there's Sonic and Tails' brotherly relationship being inspired by Piccolo and Gohan. Following Akira Toriyama's passing (Rest in peace) Yasushi Yamaguchi posted a piece of art in tribute
.
~Kuro Bara Hime I don’t think Shadow stands around and brood, we just never see him doing his own thing and when we do, he is brooding like Vegeta when he has to be part of a team or at a party; like right in the beginning of IDW, when the team's on their way to Angel Island, he's on a corner with his arms crossed brooding like Vegeta does and Rogue has to come and talk to him.
Here's a screenshot of Vegeta on a family trip and another episode where he's doing the same and the whole scene of the family trip episode
This is from the said issue, it’s not that Vegeta 24/7 training he also has to have relaxing time even he himself admits to being a man of his word but don’t expect him at these times to be sociable or cheerful just like Shadow, most here seem to know the Vegeta who battles and is prideful and don’t know or haven’t seem the other side when he's having a "relaxing" time.

He who controls the present controls the past. He who controls the past, controls the future. It's funny because there's also a bunch of stuff in the Sonic series where it's... ambiguous.
Like, in addition to the seven magic gems that scatter around the globe and have to be collected to make miraculous things happen, there's also Knuckles. He's the last of his kind and has a sacred duty relating to the magic gems from his lofty vantage on a great island in the sky. Is Knuckles supposed to be Kami? Or Piccolo? Or both? Hard to say. Might be coincidence, might not.
Sonic Frontiers recently revealed that the Not Dragon Balls are actually alien artifacts and made us fight an arrogant planet-killing ultra-villain who slaughtered the people that the Chaos Emeralds truly came from. Is Sonic Frontiers supposed to be Namek? Might be coincidence, might not.
(Hilariously, that same game also gave us Super Sonic 2, though hopefully it won't stick around. I desperately do not want Super Sonic to start escalating like Super Saiyan forms.)

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub. Also on their own they’re already got load of power in them, one scene of Sonic X showed just two gave the user a lot of abilities whilst the Dragon Balls unless you gather all seven of em there’s nothing much use other than a nice decoration like it was with Kid Gohan's hat at the beginning of DBZ

Thanks now I know what those mean, and interesting piece, didn’t knew their friendship was based of Piccolo and Gohan's relationship. And even more ironic is to know Akira never took much care and just invented what he felt would make his editors happy XD.
He who controls the present controls the past. He who controls the past, controls the future.Toriyama was mostly self-driven, actually. He wrote by the seat of his pants but he had a lot of care for the stories he was creating, and only started to make changes to satisfy his (former) editor whose opinion he respected a little too much near the end of the manga's run, when he was starting to burn out.
Hell, he loved his characters and stories so much that he went back to making Dragon Ball decades after penning his final word on the series because he was just that mad about an American live-action adaptation.
He didn't think too highly of the anime adaptations of his work, though, which is what most people know Dragon Ball from. He was basically Japanese Alan Moore, constantly at his wit's end with everyone else's attempts to adapt his work.

Thanks for that. Genuinely.
But yeah Shadow still being shoved into that round hole is still troubling, and whether its fans, Sega themselves or whomever....well if we're going to say such and such Sonic character is just such and such DBZ character or other fictional character, then why isn't Kyle Reese a Future Trunks knock off? He's from the future too. Why isn't Silver Kyle Reese?
Why does everyone want Sonic to be 100% Dragon Ball bootleg so bad? Fans, Sega, whomever. Like, if it makes Shout Outs sure but let the series and its characters be their own thing.
