first thoughts: "oh, huh, Shadow's awakening his Persona. cool."
next: "please let Shadow keep these in a future game, please let him keep them, please—"
next: "NEW SONG??????"
finally: "Doom Surf is the goofiest name i've ever heard. hilarious."
"For you, nothing has changed." "Everything has changed, sir." "...Perhaps everything will change again."
Shadow's skills competing in the olympics are paying off with Doom Surf.

Shadow: I'd like to see that strange man in green top this!
(Because the M&S Games kept pairing Shadow with Luigi in the cinematics?)
Can I just say we've come so far since 2005? Back then there was lots of mocking about how over the top edgy Shadow was fighting aliens with guns while cursing, yet here we are being excited over Black Doom returning and Shadow using said aliens' powers and even sprouting alien wings, which is arguable more over the top than anything from his game. Of course, not everything was salvageable "This is like taking candy from a baby, which is fine by me", but still.
No rain could douse the flames that burn within me!
Even if they made the game far more playable with little (to no) loading times and WAY better controls (or however you call it)...there's still Princess Elise and the smooch of a hedgehog corpse.
Unless they made a sort of a reboot, where Elise is far more likeable, doesn't become the Damsel Scrappy, and finds a DIFFERENT way to revive Sonic at the end.

It is weird how much people are behind Shadow's going all in on edge now.
Maybe his Character Derailment for the past few years has given people a new appreciation for edginess done right, even if that sounds a bit contradictory.
One Strip! One Strip!Well, STILL no trailer for the third Sonic movie at Gamescon opening night. Maybe we’ll get lucky and it’ll drop this week, but I would be shocked if it wasn’t getting delayed.

You’re Gonna Carry That Weight. The thing that really got me in this trailer was Shadow uppercutting an enemy, dashing to the enemy's location in mid air, and then boosting forward. That's an amazing combo for traversal.
It's the new twenties, it's about time for emo to get retro and return to being fashionable and Shadow is perfect for it.
Re: why the shadow's game was hated.
I believe the reason why the game was hated so much was that it just using the most bare bones approach at the time to be cool, like guns, swearing and a "morality system" was petty much a check list on the later 2000s set of games to be deep and mature to a crowd that wanted to be taken seriously.
As for why people are excited now is that shadow's doom powers is adding so more layers to his origins, which flows far more better then the above stuff I'm mentioned.
Would the doom powers be better then the guns back in the day, to me I think so but YMMV is in full effect about that.
After 10 year plus years I have the confidence to be here. My one and only Fate servent.I can see you point in that, but with how the series is now doing open world zones it's now more fitting to give enemy's health bars while the normal speed stage gameplay is the same enemies die in one hit as a decent middle ground.

well for your information Gamma has a blaster not a gun, and the Eggman with a gun cutscene is why I don't really like SA 2 anymore as I find it nonsensical to the series and made me realize that the plot had more holes then swiss cheese.
The thing with Shadow's guns is that they're meant to be more realistic Earth firearms to appeal to the cool kids among players. That's why Shadow has an MP 5 in the intro that he cocks the fixed handguard of...somehow.
Its patently ridiculous to see such a real firearm in a Sonic game and I'm disappointed that Shadow's Big comeback game hasn't given us a whiff of him blasting Black Doom or Infinite or I dunno, Surge in the face with an M 4 A 1 SOPMOD.

Are explosions science?Eggman and Tails' mechs both have guns on them...
It shoots a single bullet before you can lock on to an enemy, there's even an upgrade that makes it stronger.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. Also the SWAT guys use realistic-sounding firearms on Chaos at the start of SA 1.
Are explosions science?

"You took everything from me"
"I don't even know who you are"
Except the person doing the asskicking would be flipped in this scenario.
