Short, linear, and empty level design.
People were noticing that from the Space Colony Ark level, not very unfounded.
The ark section is decently expansive with many paths that actually go somewhere, but then it goes to Radical Highway...which despite being a warped version of itself is much more linear with not a lot going on.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Re: Sonic not having an origin story, he kinda has one.
He used to be in a band with Vector, until they got tangled up in Eggman's schemes and Sonic went fulltime superhero to stop Eggman's schemes, and Vector drifted off to form the Chaotix detective agency (and did a small gig where his crew helped Knuckles deal with the Chaos Ring incident at some point).
It's why they hang out to have jam sessions in Generations, it's just like old times.

- "However, while we’re not at a liberty to say much about the full extent of Shadow’s Doom powers, one of the things that you guys got to see were the wings that shadow sprouts on his back. Let’s just say that. What’s coming next, what you’ll see in the full game is that they’re somewhat more animalistic designs." — My guess is on Bat
- Appears that Shadow will not be playable through Sonic's stages and vice versa
- I guess that means new areas in Sonic Generations levels too

At least until the modders get their hands on the game and figure it out.
"Cynic, n. — A blackguard whose faulty vision sees things as they are, not as they ought to be." - The Devil's DictionaryI gotta say, when I saw the (compressed) FMV intro for Sonic 3D Blast decades past, that clip blew my mind.
@SolidSonicTH: You're welcome here, but heads up that it seems like the Sonic fandom itself is fundamentally broken, and everywhere seems to have its quirks or issues. Around here, one of those seems to be repetitive discussions about continuity "issues" that have already been resolved by the games themselves.
Just to confirm, the Frontiers DLC cyberspace stages aren't playable in Arcade Mode, right? The ones I've played so far are a little hard, a little unfair, but a lot of fun. Though there are some control issues I've noticed.

Depends. Did you bring chili dogs for everyone?
Jk. Welcome!
Sonic Generations levels based on how good I think they were as a pick and what I would replace them with. I'm more for variety than strictly the best pick from each game.
1: Green Hill is a complete shoe-in. So much so that I wish later games would remember Marble Zone or Spring Yard exist.
2: Chemical Plant Zone is another shoe-in. I'd have been fine with Mystic Cave or Hill Top too).
3&K: Sky Sanctuary (Weird choice. Would've prefered Death Egg or Hydrocity if there already weren't so many early levels).
Adventure: Speed Highway is another shoe-in. Red Mountain or Lost World may have been cool.
Adventure 2: City Escape is, once again, a shoe-in. They're worth the pick for the remixes of "Escape From The City" alone. Crazy Gadget or Final Rush would've also worked.
Heroes: Seaside Hill is a dumb choice. Would prefer Casino Park for the Casino level representation (and because its my favorite level). Egg Fleet or Mystic Mansion would've also worked.
Sonic 06: There are no good levels, skip it... Ok in all seriousness, Crisis City is fine but Kingdom Valley or Radical Train would be my picks.
Unleashed: Rooftop Run is yet another shoe-in. Dragon Road would've also been nice. Side Note: But I wish Classic Sonic's version was set at Night since it already incorporates parts of Rooftop Run Night.
Colors: Planet Wisp has always been the most baffling pick for me personally since it is my least favorite part of Colors. Aquarium Park or Starlight Carnival are my picks.
I wish they made a final level. Whether it be a fully original level, a mix of previous levels, or something like Death Egg Zone or Egg Fleet.

Once Upon A Time.
In practice it lead to a brutally unforgiving Marathon Level. I've never beaten Unleashed on Xbox 360/PS 3 due to Eggmanland.
I only played the Wii version of Unleashed over a decade ago, and it was the first Sonic game I genuinely didn't enjoy. Should I give it another shot, or try the 360/PS 3 version instead?

I didn't like Unleashed (PS3) at all when I played it, but I wasn't particularly bothered by Eggmanland. Yeah it's long and difficult, but it's no more janky and unfun than the rest of the game is so if you liked the game otherwise then I don't see the problem. It's at least memorable for being a massive trial that's fitting for the final stage. I think the idea would be cool in a game that has good gameplay. Actually I guess that does exist already, it's called Cannon's Core.
Honestly, imo by the time of Eggman land the werehog's level design is way better than Sonic's level design. Which isn't really saying much for either
That was more or less my main problem with Unleashed. The Werehog's levels were, long, ludicrously padded and repetitive, while Sonic's were quick but the design was unproven, janky and increasingly incapable of handling its own challenge as the game went on. By the end, I found myself preferring the werehog parts solely because their more traditional platforming actually worked.
Sonic Unleashed is one of my favorite games in the franchise despite the day stages being kinda jank. The Werehog is good, fight me. Generations gets close, but is too short, barely has a story, and lacks a lot of charm Unleashed brought to the table with its human designs, art direction, and world-touring plot even if it's the more solid game.

Once Upon A Time.I've only ever played the Dimps version of Unleashed, and that was years ago. ._.
I remember liking it, but I cannot verify if that would hold up today.
Your melody still remains in this room and it rings

And the extremely linear level design that basically asked the player to keep moving forwards in one direction and it was over before you knew it
I’m not getting that with Shadow Generations so far
