(3) I notice that Shadow has a "Chaos Control" effect when he does his Homing Attack.
As for his 2d stages, I suspect that it's going to be a copy and paste of Sonic's. He's not that different unless you factor in his Shadow the Hedgehog abilities which ... "seems" to be the case if his Demonic Wings are any sign.
It could've been, possibly, but it wasn't, because at the end of the day it's still a Generations expansion and is still designed to be a part of that experience. Iizuka explains this in the interview:
I think there's a lot of expectation for this to be an entirely stand-alone Shadow game that only just happens to be attached to Generations when it it's not.

After watching the VGC video and others playing the Shadow Generations demo, here's what I noticed:
- First off, I'd like to meet the wise guy at VGC who thought it'd be a great idea to remove the HUD... really takes away context.
- Apparently it's documented that Sonic Generations has it so that both Sonics have the Drop Dash and you can map the homing attack to be X —> X, like in the OG game or X —> Square, like in Frontiers. Very cool!
- Shadow's gameplay very clearly is based on Frontiers instead of Forces, so the Forces 2.0 babies can take a nap. Namely, it's like Frontiers' cyberspace levels, but bigger. Plus, alternate routes!
- Looks like they updated Shadow's homing attack so that it isn't a copy-and-paste of Sonic's like in...pretty much every time Shadow was playable. Now he teleports directly on top of his target! It reminds me of that one moment in the Shadow game's opening cinematic when Shadow just teleports to attack stuff. (IYKYK.)
- Just as I suspected, the wriggly thingie is referred to in the subtitles as "Doom's Eye", which tells me that Black Doom has yet to actually be seen. (Unless DE is now its own creature taking vengeance on BD's demise?)
- Has Chaos Control been a gameplay mechanic in anything besides the Shadow game? Because here it stops time, allowing Shadow to use hazardous explosives as platforms!
- Biolizard has sloshing gills(?) that remind me of Shin Godzilla's second form. (And it looks like I'm not the only one who saw
the resemblance!)
So for the time, it looks like they're cooking!
That, and the ability to map the homing attack controls to be like Frontiers, sound like that game's success might be influencing other games in the series. As someone who beat Frontiers 5 times and loves it, I'm glad to hear this!
Something tells me this wasn't just a VGC thing, and more a Sega thing, since other sites shared the exact same footage with the UI removed.
This isn't particularly new either, considering how, when Sega released pre-release footage for Sonic Frontiers and Sonic Superstars they were also devoid of UI elements.
Shadow's homing attack is functionally the same, but visually it looks like the Chaos Snap version of his homing attack from Sonic Nex Gen.
Which is different from the Episode Shadow homing attack allowing him to instantly chain a bunch of targets.
Doom's Eye...is indeed Black Doom, as the name would indicate. There's no distinction.
Chaos Control is used in Sonic Rivals as well, his special item move. Also Sonic Heroes Team Blast.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Fallen Angel kinda thing.
The Ark was his Heaven, G.U.N. caused his fall by killing Maria, etc.

You gotta believe me when I scare you away, all that I wish for is that you would stay@ The Azure Star of Doom: I've always liked to imagine Doom's Eye is the actual Black Doom and his main body is just a Meat Puppet he uses to fight

Shadow is new to the 2D realm so I'm curious what kind of unique platforming he'll have.
The Protomen enhanced my life.
