They backtracked extremely hard starting with Unleashed, where all the humans look like Pixar characters.
"That we continue to persist at all is a testament to our faith in one another."Go play Project 06 if you want to enjoy the levels, they are great as a rule.
Also, I guess Who Framed Roger Rabbit was bestiality as well then?

The real concern should be with the fact that she kissed his dead body, not the fact that he's a cartoon hedgehog

And even then, this was a Chaos Emerald-amped True Love's Kiss explicitly intended to bring him back (rather than because Elise Loves the Dead), and he was Only Mostly Dead (there's a big difference between "mostly dead" and "all dead") with a limited amount of time to revive him before he died and Solaris ate whatever happened to still be left of time.

I'll grant that it's still pretty Narmy (especially since Elise is as realistic-looking as a Final Fantasy character, while Sonic remains his usual cartoony self; it's like expecting me to take a scene of a live-action human giving CPR to a Toon seriously despite the Roger Rabbit Effect) and rather out-of-character for the Sonic franchise to do a romance scene like this, but the intense backlash to it (particularly calling it necrophilia and bestiality) is honestly rather embarrassing in retrospect, and I say this as someone who did join in on said backlash back in the day.

The kiss scene is the perfect embodiment of how much they managed to fuck up with the Sonic franchise in 06. Not only is it Squick, the romance plot is a betrayal of Sonic as a character. Sonic is meant to be the antithesis of Mario, yet here he is in Sonic 06 saving a princess he is in love with. Just like the game its in, it completely misses the point of Sonic.

He frolics in a flower field with her. That's closer than he's ever acted with Amy.
It's funny how often he ends up with princesses. Sally, Elise and Blaze could all count.
Personally I ship Sonaze pretty hard. "Holding onto one another's hands to stare in each other's eyes as long as they can as their dimensions pull them apart" was certainly... A moment. That and the whole "Duty bound royal" vs "Carefree chaotic spirit" always makes me feel they'd be good for each other. Big Star-Crossed Lovers potential.
"People are defending the kiss?!"
Oh lord.
Like, I've never seen anyone have an issue with Roger Rabbit or like Family Guy.
When it comes to a bad game, you can't work backwards and therefore declare everything about the game is irredeemable, or else you walk yourself into conclusions like saying the game is pro necrophilia. They're doing Sleeping Beauty. That's it.
I honestly have to question if the kiss was necessary in the 1st place. Like, sure, having the Chaos Emeralds by themselves revive Sonic would make the comparisons to Dragon Ball even more obvious, but it would've worked much better. It feels like they only put the kiss in because of that old "The prince kisses the princess" thing in fairy tales, except with the roles in reverse this time and Sonic's not a prince, but considering how often he has to save her he might as well be. Though, that does remind me of the 1st episode of Sonic Underground (of all the shows for me to remember) with the Oracle of Delphius referring to Sonic as a prince.
No rain could douse the flames that burn within me!-Looks at the character guide just saying "Silver is like Trunks"-
I don't think they're too worried about the DBZ similarities.
You are not alone.

Ugh, Tropical Jungle. If you're doing Shadow's campaign it's not too bad (assuming you don't constantly stick to the wall like glue) since Rouge can glide over everything. Silver on the other hand? Hell no. The amount of times I got lost is astronomical. There is a glitch that allows Silver to jump on water, and it's extremely easy to pull off, but you'll find getting to a platform to be next to impossible if you try it. Oh, and if you decide to revisit the level after getting the Shock Bracelet, the water jump glitch will be harder to pull of because you'll need precise timing.
