Sweet, a Generations DLC that's more than just a virtual pinball table. Too bad we had to wait 13 years for it and have to buy the game again because the original might not be able to handle whatever new stuff they've added. To give some perspective, I was just graduating high school when Gens released. Had I stayed in college, I would have a Master's degree and be well into doctoral studies by the time this remaster releases.
Don't get me wrong, the Shadow stuff looks pretty cool, but it's still the same game I played over a decade ago.
I kid you not, the second I heard that SEGA sound(?), my attention was on the screen...or it would've been if I hadn't burned my dinner.
But seeing it again, OHHHH MAN.
The guys who speculated it'd be like Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury might be spot on. It's a remastered take on Generations that squeezes in a new story mode for Shadow that somehow has Black Doom (or rather Doom's Eye) and stages from SA2 and what appears to be Forces? (Because either Black Doom somehow survived death via squirming inside Shadow's mind and Shadow's story is all a battle in the center of his mind, or BD somehow has the Phantom Ruby.) I wonder if there'll be some free roaming like in Frontiers...
Ian Hanlin (Shadow's VA in Prime) is easily the superior Shadow...but isn't there some law that says Canadian VAs can't act in non-Canadian stuff unless they have dual citizenship or they have a visa or something? (Unless they're planning to sneak him into the States like in the "Midnight Ron" episode of Archer?)
Speaking of VAs, second-superior voice of Shadow Jason Griffith tweeted
back in the beginning of January 2024 about doing voicework for something, but it couldn't possibly be this, right?
...Right?
ALSO BIOLIZARD!
Also also, I don't see any bloom.
Also also also, a blogpost
from PlayStation elaborating on the Shadow campaign!
Shadow was first introduced in 2001’s platformer, Sonic Adventure 2, and has been seen in various titles including Sonic Heroes, Sonic Battle, and his own spin-off title, Shadow the Hedgehog. He was created to be the ultimate lifeform with incredible speed, ferocious strength and a rare ability called Chaos Control – by harnessing the power of a Chaos Emerald, he can stop time and warp to new positions. He’s always on the lookout for dangers to the world and protects Earth in honor of an old friend.
Since their first meeting, the Blue Blur has been the only one able to keep up with Shadow – a fact that both fascinates and frustrates Shadow – and has been the driving force to bring out the best in him. Two sides of the same coin, Sonic and Shadow are unfriendly rivals through and through, but they can put their differences aside when the fate of the world is at stake.
Maria acknowledgment, LFG!
When it comes to Black Doom don't forget that the Time Eater is already screwing around with time. What if at some point Black Doom becomes aware of it and his goal is to either alter the past so that he wins against Shadow or to escape to the new present where he can cause tons of trouble. I'm personally expecting him to go the escape route but Shadow stops him, but rather then being sent back to where he was defeated originally something he does makes him to powerful so he has to be sealed away leading to him being able to show up again in future games.
If Shadow's campaign is parallel to Sonic's story in Generations I feel like Black Doom is just a memory or outside of time, not that he survived the events of Shadow's game.
But other villains have survived worse, so who knows.
The Protomen enhanced my life.Apparently the Steam page for Generations 2 says Black Doom is back full on, though that could still be some memory thing. Would be funny if he actually is truly back and is looking to do a little trolling. The wording is deliberately vague enough after all.

Are explosions science?SHADOW, YOU MUST BEFRIEND ALL THE PITIFUL HUMANS
"That we continue to persist at all is a testament to our faith in one another."From the description, they’re at least trying to sell it as the Shadow campaign being a whole game in its own right.
My musician pageNot to mention a baddie we never thought we would see again:
It's me, THE DEVIL! I'm here to convince you to do SIN!
You’re Gonna Carry That Weight.Let me celebrate with my favorite piece of Shadow media outside of Sonic Prime:

After Frontiers, I have high hopes for that Biolizard boss.
