After finally getting off my booty and finding the motivation, I've completed Frontiers.
Ouranos was beautiful but underwhelming. SUPREME was pretty difficult for a glorified Bullet Hell, and THE END almost made me Rage Quit several times. I've heard rumblings the ending was rushed, and I sure do believe it. I mean, for starters, SUPREME didn't have the consistent presence that GIGANTO, WYVERN, and KNIGHT do (I audibly said "What giant?" when Eggman rolled up with the final Emerald and sent Sonic off). I also thought the transition between SUPREME and THE END was awkward. Like, Sonic and Sage go off and BOOM! Giant bruise-purple moon. Go fight it.
Onto the DLC. Hopefully, it's more since cinematic and cohesive than the base game.
Good news Sonic Fans! Sonic Superstars got nominated for Best Family Game
in the Game Awards!
The other nominees for "Best Family Game" are:
"Cynic, n. — A blackguard whose faulty vision sees things as they are, not as they ought to be." - The Devil's Dictionary![]()
Yeah, there's not a franchise in the world that could release a title that could compete with Wonder at least in the "family game" category.
Well, the fact that Sonic Superstars got nominated in the first place is a good start.
I love animation, TV, movies, YOU NAME IT!What else was nominated? It's not like there's gonna be an award with just one nominee.
I wonder if Murder would be seriously considered for any year end awards. Would it be different if it wasn't free? I'd absolutely play it or more games like it at a couple bucks each.
I'd really like to see more spinoff games in the franchise that are of different genres and starring different characters, even if they're small and inexpensive. Especially if they're small and inexpensive really, for proof of concept to start with.
- Chao race: Cream, Vanilla, Gemerl
- Treasure hunt: Knuckles, Rouge, Babylon Rogues
- Slower paced puzzle platformer: Blaze, Tangle/Whisper/Lanolin
- Visual novel:
- Investigation: Chaotix
- Fantasy AU: Amy
- Storybook series: Sonic
- Crafting sandbox: Tails
- Fishing: Big (of course)
- Shmup: Omega
- Build your own platformer:
- Eggman or Sage testing the Metals
- Alternatively, Tails testing Team Sonic

I was about to say that I was surprised that The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog didn't get nominated, but I don't see "Best Visual Novel" category on the Game Awards list so....

I love animation, TV, movies, YOU NAME IT!They probably don't.
Given the Final Horizon had THE END overpower and detransform Super Sonic 2, wouldn't that back up its claims of being stronger than all of Sonic’s previous foes? Considering Solaris couldn't do that to the regular Super Form, even taking in the fandom interpretation of Sonic not remembering 06 over the canon one of him remembering.
First of all, this is a powerscaling question. If it's about powerscaling, you can't really ask Flynn, he is not as invested in that. He didn't even agree with Archie Silver winning in Death Battle; not because he disagreed with it, but because he found using the Time Stones and Chaos Emeralds for Silver to be unfair.
Second, I hold that The End can boast on its strength; it destroyed planets with ease and took the Super out of Sonic, and Sonic needed a powerup to even defeat it. However, Solaris can't be defeated because he is an interdimensional being that has to be defeated at three periods of time.
Solaris is a very cosmological challenge, while The End could be stopped in the present. The End wins in raw power and defense, but Solaris wins by being practically omnipresent.
To win, you need to adapt, and to adapt, you need to be able to laugh away all the restraints. Everything holding you back.
Even then, Solaris' temporal omnipresence isn't absolute and has an explicit work around that effectively nullifies it: destroying its consciousness (capable with just the Super Form too at that). Much like the Super Forms do in being overpowered, caught completely off guard, or having their polarity reversed. Something that THE END would clearly be able to pull off without much issue given the Final Horizon. Especially since Solaris isn't temporally omniscient, kinda rendering the temporal omnipresence moot.
Not to mention that THE END can return later on and can't really be permanently put down.
It seems like an inverse of Sega Scourge's Dark Gaia vs Solaris scenario where Solaris TO rendered it unbeatable against Dark Gaia. Especially since THE END is much, much, MUCH more intelligent than Dark Gaia, and both gives and takes an objectively greater level of power than what the Super Form can provide to actually deal with.

Eggman depowered Super Sonic in Unleashed, too.
And Knuckles punched the Super out at the start of Sonic 3.

The Protomen enhanced my life. All of this kinda ignores that powers scaling is an arbitrary construct that was only added in dragon ball to showcase how rigid Frieza's and his men were and that fans took the idea at face value and tried to apply it to everything outside of hard coded stats.
Point is, the debate is pointless because fiction in general runs on Strong as They Need to Be and power consistency only matters in cases of versimitude.

That was by a machine reversing the polarity of the Chaos Emeralds to disable the form and not outright overpowering it like THE END did.
Knuckles caught Super Sonic completely off guard, much like the first time Super Sonic got depowered in Frontiers by the Ancients weapons. Again, not the same as overpowering it.
THE END was able to overpower and depower Super Sonic 2 in a legitimate life or death fight where Sonic is on guard and able to react and defend to a greater extent than base Super Sonic. Not exactly the same scenario or causes for detransformation as the former two.

I wonder how long it'll take people to find yet a third Knuckles infinite jump glitch in the new one...
