Elise's main issues are simply not having very strong personality that makes her immediately likeable, and Sonic's story is badly structured so her relationship with Sonic is awkward and gets kidnapped too many times that it gets annoying/hilarious.
But I don't feel like there's a good reason to actively hate her, and I find it stupid if someone is passionately ranting about her.
This art
had a lot of people reconsidering Elise.
@KnownUnknown We definitely could use more recurring villains, though I feel Trip is going to do a Heel–Face Turn.

Sure it would.
But...hypothetically, if SEGA were to remake Sonic Nex Gen...they should not change her design.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. So that isekai story with Silver and Blaze
, it says that Burning Blaze has some sort of "Unlimited Burning Blaze" mode that had a giant wing of flame.
An artist did a rendition of that moment
, though adding her own flavor that made the wing look like Solaris' wings.
It just looks cool.

Man, what I'd give for those isekai stories to be adapted into official comics, like an OGN or something. They'd probably sell like hotcakes!
I mean. If we ever actually do get a shot at Sonic 06 done properly, I wouldn't be opposed to them shaking up how the humans look like. It'd help set it apart from the original. Like, if the Silver/Elise art is anything to go off of, her looking like she does there would be considered a glow-up.
My opinion is rather close, that being that the realistic design is fine...in a vaccum and the actual issue is that she has to share screen space with anthros half her size. So she and 06 in general has a bit of an Uncanny Valley effect that other sonic media with humans avoid (usually by the nature of being anime or comic medium, and thus having some stylisation, or by making the anthros look more realistic in the case of the live action films...and that still didn't avoid the UV given the original design of Sonic there)
That aside, the execution being as botched as the rest of the game also didn't help matters. Kingdom Hearts was able to pull off mixing cartoony and realistic designs fairly well.
With regards to a remake. The game would prolly have to be built from sratch again given the likelyhood that the source code was lost on SEGA's end or the slightly more likelyhood that they would want to address most of the flaws that made 06 hates to begin with (including the dissonance in designs). In either case, Elsie and msot of the human characters getting a facelift is in the realm of probability (I assume Sonicman would be the lone exception because of the memetic factor. Bur than again I aslo assume that he was in 06 to begin with instead of the adventure duology so if that is wrong feel free to correct me)

...all that means is that they haven't even considered doing it.
If they were to do it, it'd be a 50/50 chance on whether or not they'll C&D the fan project.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. They are in fact.
They only started becoming more fair after an enormous backlash when they canceled a Streets of Rage fangame.
Watch SymphogearSega is a lot more chill about fangames than Nintendo is. SAGE has been around for like two decades. But if they're doing their own remaster/remake of a game then they're probably going to shut down any fan projects because it just makes sense to do so. I'm betting that's why they pulled the plug on Streets of Rage.
I doubt Sega has any plans to remake 06 or even re-release it given how much of a disaster it was for them. If anything gets a remake it'll probably be the Adventure titles or Heroes and I don't know if they even plan to do that.
SEGA is chill about Sonic fangames specifically, because when Sammy bought out SEGA they valued Sonic more for his image than the actual games, and so they took a hands off approach to copyright to help foster that image.
So...remember that Sonic and Friends trademark from a while back? And how we came to realize it's probably for something cutesy?
Looks like we were right.
It's for a series exclusively on SEGA's TikTok!

It's because it's in 3D...
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.

Mephiles's plan was really simple: make a grown woman cry so that he can use 7 pretty rocks and some fire to destroy all of time.
Also I do actually like the idea of Elise and Sonic being this ambiguous romance where it's up to player interpretation whether Sonic reciprocates or not. It's just, well, it's poorly written.
