Armadillo lizard
. They reference the Ouroborus, and this lizard is named after it because it bites its own tail.

Sungazers and armadillo lizards not only look similar but are both part of the same family of lizards which are collectively called "armor lizards" (yoroitokage) in Japanese, which is mentioned in the interview. You could just view her design as based off the general family, but they went with sungazer for specific species.
Ah, knew they were the same family but didn't know they were under the same name in Japanese.
I'm really interested to see where they're going to go with Trip's character now especially with them hinting that she's a lot stronger than she appears. They could have went with a sungazer to tie into the giant animal theme somehow...
Her backstory could've been interesting...if a bit cliched.
A Princess who lost her father at an early age, but couldn't properly grieve because any strong emotion would've released a terrible monster sealed within her.
But all we got were 2 scenes.

Also the story ended up not really focusing on her in the present too much, so...there's also that.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. With Elise you have the deeper structural problems of her broader character not really being fully realized thanks to the rough nature of 06's production, her visual design heavily clashing with Sonic & company, and the romance angle with her falling flat on its face.
She's basically the anti-Blaze; both princess characters, but the latter got everything right with her debut appearance and overall conception while with the former, everything went wrong.
I remember there was a defense video for Elise. It's thumbnail had the brilliant and all-convincing statement "Meh, there are worse characters". It failed to convince me at all if she is still considered mediocre.
To win, you need to adapt, and to adapt, you need to be able to laugh away all the restraints. Everything holding you back.It helps that...that game was actually about Blaze.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.I like Elise and her character; there's a really tragic quality about her and her loneliness and how Sonic helps her open up and allow herself to feel things, but she has to forget him and the experience to save the world.
The Protomen enhanced my life. It's hard for a character like Elise to even get a fair shake because the words "Sonic the Hedgehog's human love interest" evoke such a visceral, guttural negative reaction that everything else about the character doesn't really matter anymore. One that extends to the rest of the game as well.
Like. I barely even remember what Mephi... Mephiseles... Mephisto? Mephisto. I barely even remember what Mephisto was even trying to do. Something something apocalypse something Shadow something Future Trunks. When I think of '06, I really only remember how weirded out Elise made me feel.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.The most interesting thing in that interview is them talking about how every major character they've introduced in the last forever has been an Arc Villain or Arc Hero or otherwise part of a big epic plot without much play outside of it, so this time they wanted to introduce a character who was more of a regular joe that was more relatable to the audience and less of a one-time thing.
Which makes me wonder if they intend to make Trip (and potentially, by extension, Nack/Fang) more of a recurring thing.
Elise had potential, but damn did Sega drop that ball.
Whatever good traits she may have had got buried under getting kidnapped every five seconds and what Tobias pointed out above.
Maybe if dropped the fucking romance and gave her more of role beyond Sonci has to save her again, things would be a bit different.
One Strip! One Strip!

Yeah, let Omega get some shine please.
So, Trip is confirmed to be a lizard.
They said sungazer, but I think they meant armadillo.
