I know it was first mentioned when Origins Plus was new, but I feel there was a bit of missed opportunity in Amy's moveset. For the most part it's fine (even the lack of invincibility on her insta-shield variant, since she isn't shielding), but I'd have made the following changes to the Down+Attack command:
- Charge, while stationary: Her Drop Dash thing could've just been her spin dash variant, by combining the Super Peel Out from the game she debuted in with a constant hammer attack. The mechanics would work the same as her current drop dash thing, except she wouldn't stop swinging the hammer.
- While running: Hammer Jump
, useful for exploration.
- In midair: Spinning Hammer Attack
, useful for cancelling horizontal momentum and attacking downwards.
Also, if there are some (Knuckles) paths that she can mostly navigate, and the only issue is vertical climbing, there could be some special springs at the base of the climbing sections where she gets propelled all the way up if she hits them with her hammer, like how she gets higher spring jumps in the Advance games if she hits them. That could add to the different routes through the games.
The only thing I find weird about how they represent Amy nowadays is that, by making her Classic incarnation "just another member of the team," it basically renders her arc in Adventure kind of moot? Because now Amy was just apparently always competent and could fight on her own.
How did she captured by Metal Sonic if she's so competent now? The answer is don't fucking think about it and move on.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Either that or Metal Sonic had the schmooves.
Self-professed Wild Card who thinks cynicism isn't so bad.Depends on what you mean by main cast, tbh.
There's characters like Silver or Cream, for instance, who basically never show up to any meaningful degree in story games (Silver being "and also, he was there" incarnate), but almost never miss out on the spinoffs. Pretty much the Princess Daisys of the group.
And I'm not even sure what Sonic Team is doing with the Chaotix. They clearly like them, or at least I think so, but...

Main cast is pretty definitively the following:
- Tails, Amy, Knuckles
- Shadow and Rouge
And closest allies are consistently the same above, minus Shadow. Cream next after Rouge, but there's a big gap before and after Rouge in terms of how likely someone is to show up.
Big has been showing up a lot more recently, but we'll see where that goes.

Which is interesting, because in Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog, they include Vector and Espio along with other characters like Tails and Knuckles.
They could have chosen to use characters like Jet, Mighty, or Ray, yet ended up using Vector and Espio as opposed to anyone else.
IIRC Charmy and Cream were considered for the Murder game but it was decided they were too young.
The Protomen enhanced my life.Mstorzil, what is the TL;DR version of Pariah's video?
I'll admit the "Sonic stupid friends" and "We need to talk about Amy" videos have made me a bit skeptical of Pariah's arguments. It's not that I don't agree with his wishes, but it comes to a point where you wonder: Ok, the series is no longer moving forward. What exactly are we meant to do about it?
It's like the criticism about Spider-man comics. Yeah, it sucks Spidey can't grow anymore, but the smart choice would be to stop reading. I can only tolerate so much insults to the creative staff before it gets dull.
I wonder why he has been making these video essays rather than review Sonic Colors already.

To win, you need to adapt, and to adapt, you need to be able to laugh away all the restraints. Everything holding you back.

Maybe the events of Superstars are so unmemorable to Amy that she'd prefer to flash back to the events of CD in Adventure instead.
