Shadow’s motive in Prime is unambiguously benevolent. The conflict between him and Sonic is over “pragmatic focus on the mission and fix reality vs each fragment being their own person.
I’m with Shadow on this one. He sees that the only way to correctly save the rest of the cast is to piece together all the aspects by restoring the prism shards to their correct orientation. He does care about the rest…in his own way.
Prime is definetly going in the direction of part Sonic Battle part Sonic 06 with Shadow.

Still plenty to work with.
Hero Antagonist route can go all sorts of places. Especially if Sonic and GUN are on the same side but have different approaches.
Conflict of idealism vs cynicism/pragmatism.
Simply enjoying their fights like a Blood Knight.
GUN has not existed in an official capacity for years now.
And when I say nowhere to go, I mean you can only do "Shadow overcomes his inner demons" so many times and that's essentially what his most popular appearances amount to.
I like to imagine there are more imaginative ways to use him that simply isn't retreading old ground.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.
When I say go back to 06, I specifically mean the personality of the perceptive, hard to manipulate, unambiguously morally good but pragmatic Anti-Hero, not plot lines.
I think we can all agree that Diet Vegeta was a terrible direction to go. It led to that awful adaptation that was Sonic Boom Shadow.
Those idea hooks are just ways to make conflicts spicy and interesting while keeping that 06 personality intact.
Prime is doing a good job in this regard.

I'm kind of at a loss at what the word "prominent" means.
But as long as Trip doesn't prominently take off her helmet, everything's fine.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. No Sonic character has been prominent since 06, unless you count the Wisps that became a staple for Lost World, Forces and IDW (through Whisper).
Sage hasn't yet got out of her debut game.
If we count IDW, then Tangle, since she got out of her little corner with Frontiers's namedropping her, alongisde Forces Battle. Whisper did get plushies and two playable variations in Forces, but compared with a Frontiers name drop, I don't think she counts yet.

To win, you need to adapt, and to adapt, you need to be able to laugh away all the restraints. Everything holding you back.
Well, she does make a cameo appearance at the very end of The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog alongside Orbot, Cubot, and Metal Sonic, complete with adorable "Let's Go Dad" T-shirts and party hats, but I don't think that really counts for this purpose.
"Cynic, n. — A blackguard whose faulty vision sees things as they are, not as they ought to be." - The Devil's DictionaryYeah but it's just a cameo.
And now that you mention it, I completely forgot about Orbot and Cubot. Since their debut, they have been everywhere and joined the gang in Sonic Boom
I'm sorry for my mistake.
To win, you need to adapt, and to adapt, you need to be able to laugh away all the restraints. Everything holding you back.No. Sticks was a main character in Boom, which is long over. Her only other appearance was in an Olympic game that came out between Boom games. The only recent relevance she has is a small reference in the English version of Frontiers, and an implication from official sources that a version of her exists in the main continuity but hasn't actually appeared yet.

By the way, to bring more attention to Prime for a second, notice how completely one sided that battle between Sonic and Shadow was in Shadow's favor, and not only did Shadow not even use any of his Chaos powers, he didn't even have a Chaos Emerald since he lost the green one. I'm pretty sure this was the most one sided battle between Sonic and Shadow ever. Though I don't think there are many moments to pick from, the only other time I can think is their very 1st meeting. I always knew Shadow was a really powerful character, but my goodness.
No rain could douse the flames that burn within me!
So essentially he's a gruff voiced special forces operative scientifically engineered into existence by via a secret project by a classified military sub-division, and in the present day resembles an already famous hypercomepetent figure.
Huh, Shadow was Solid Snake the whole time and I never noticed.

Man the 2000's were weird.
I'll concede, this is definitely the best Shadow has been in a while. He definitely works best when he's playing as Sonic's foil than the forced attempts at a rivalry.
Here, the conflict makes sense; Sonic fucked up big time, and Shadow, being the pragmatist that he is, decides to take matters into his own hands which puts him at odds with Sonic for natural reasons. Shadow isn't wrong, he's just going about it in the most extreme way possible.
And now he's forced into a position where he has no choice but to rely on Sonic.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Season 2 is going to be 8 episodes, just like Season 1. Is that all, or are we getting a third season later? Because now that we have a possible way to fix everything, I feel like we can wrap this up in 8 episodes, unless we introduce more alternate realities. Though, when I heard what the premise of this show was, I expected we'd get more than three alternate realities.

I've been comparing Shadow to Solid Snake for years. Bonus points for once aiding a white-haired formerly hated rookie that was once voiced by Quinton Flynn.

Told you going back to 06 was the right course of action. Though in this case its a merger of 06 personality and morality with Battle aggression.
Once again, Shadow is the first to have the general big picture figured out.
He’s completely right on what needs to be done…just excessively wrathful about it.
Goes with what I said a while back about “Wrath is the most likely of the Seven Deadly Sins to be motivated by good intentions”.

Hard to say, but Sage, Surge, Whisper and Tangle come fairly close.
"Cynicism is not realistic and tough. It's unrealistic and kind of cowardly because it means you don't have to try."
