Oh well, time to play Flame Core again, that stage within a properly working game is great.
Infinite gaining some new undiscovered power would be amazing and could possibly make him a Knight of Cerebus.
Infinite being ultimately a jilted Super Loser who stumbled into a magic artifact is the best way to use the character if you ask me.
You are not alone. If I'm allowed to offer my idea for a character that I loathe: I would suggest Infinite working on his own to regain Eggman's favor. The guy is a vile individual, but he truly worked under Eggman's wing, and is possibly the only likeable element of his character.
Like a fallen samurai trying to regain the blessing of his lord.
To win, you need to adapt, and to adapt, you need to be able to laugh away all the restraints. Everything holding you back.Yeah, they were both created by Eggman and humiliated by Shadow.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Dr. Starline and Infinite are secondary antagonists who both worked for Dr. Eggman, used a powered stone as part of their powerset, have associated with a group of villains (with Zavok a member in both cases), both of them betrayed Dr. Eggman which ended poorly and ended with them dead, both of them have black and white in their colour palettes and are based off obscure aspects of the series history (The Wechnia glitch/Fun Is Infinite).
"Punishment is not the answer. Punishment is easy. It's lazy. Redemption is hard. Redemption makes you work."-Skulduggery PleasantInfinite didn't betray Eggman...?
The game didn't actually set that up...he just failed.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Pretty much every secondary antagonist has worked with Eggman and been part of some form of group, and gems are the series' macguffin of choice. Black is barely a part of Starline's color scheme, and black and white are a common color scheme anyway, see Shadow and Rouge.... who each are closer to Infinite and Starline's color schemes themselves.
Wtf is "fun is infinite"?

Yeah, I agree. I like Infinite as a dude desperately trying to prove to people who couldn't care less that he's better than them, fail ever time as a matter of course.
Ever since someone suggested a while back that Infinite should be a straight-up Chuunibyou in future appearances, I've loved the idea.

It's an obscure image from Sonic CD's sound test and has nothing to do with Infinite the character.
it cna be found on this Nightmare Fuel page

Infinite and Starline have some similarities, but they are quite shallow.
Starline was a fanboy who thought he understood everything about the setting, which let him on a path to conquer said setting (as he calls it, "The Sonic Cycle"). He is methodical and obsessed with plans, even if he is as short-sighted as Eggman despite his claims to the contrary.
Infinite was a warrior with a desire for wasteland where he was the top dog. He wanted power for the sake to be the ultimate warrior and gain a name to be feared. His worldview was shattered when Shadow defeated him, because it broke his ego, to the point he adopted a new identity. He is less of an idealist as Starline, as he isn't looking to create a new world, he just wants a playground where he can be the ultimate bully.
In order words, Starline is an Eggman wannabe; Infinite is unintentionally a Nega wannabe.
To win, you need to adapt, and to adapt, you need to be able to laugh away all the restraints. Everything holding you back.
That's true. Infinite wants everyone to see him as an all-powerful being with unparalleled strength and cannot stand it when his enemies attack this self image of himself. Dr Eggman is just a means for Infinite to tyrannize everyone to fulfil his own sadism.
Dr Starline on the other hand is obsessed with Dr Eggman to the point where he tells the man his abilities, deludes himself into thinking they're equals and even when he tries to strike out on his own, is so obsessed with his idol that his plans are built on stolen Eggman tech and repurposed versions of his idol's plans.
"Punishment is not the answer. Punishment is easy. It's lazy. Redemption is hard. Redemption makes you work."-Skulduggery PleasantIt's always fun to see the differences in the characters. Despite similar archetypes, they couldn't be more different.
It's like when people were comparing Infinite with Mephiles. Sure, they resemble one another, but there are too many differences for that comparison to click.

One issue with the Avatar is that they're mute...hard to characterize a protagonist who doesn't speak unless you're just really creative about it and even then.
Fire Emblem and Persona straight up had to give their Avatar characters names and personalities to make sense of them showing up in subsequent games.
"Gadget" works well enough as his design pretty much screams "everyman". Just give him a voice and you'll be fine.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.
