All the stuff that made Free Riders suck is exclusive to the Kinect...
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Yeah I figure Frontiers probably "Earned" the right to use Hyper Sonic given how much of a big deal the lore and writing was and how it was... Y'now, actually a well-received game.
I definitely understand not wanting Sonic to just have a litany of So Last Season forms but Hyper Sonic can show up once again after being dormant for decades right?
Maybe since Super Sonic is Once an Episode at this point we can have Hyper as a "Trilogy Closer" kind of big deal powerup. So maybe in Frontiers 3.
They could at least make new forms that are unrelate d(Like what might have been a Cyber Sonic form of some kind because of his Cyberization schtick going on in Frontiers) with Hyper Sonic at the end of the End Saga (If The End is a Recurring antagonist moving forward in some shape or form.)
Watch SymphogearAre you saying that Hyper Sonic could be altered to just be Super Sonic but different?
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. But it's not different now.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Hyper Sonic IS "Super Sonic but more" though. Like it's the Super Saiyan 2 transformation to the original's Super Saiyan 1. That's probably why it never came back and instead most super threats are just scaled to only need Super Sonic and the Super Sonic-adjacent forms from the storybook games.
Even with the Solaris example mentioned, it just took 2 additional Super Hedgehogs to even the odds. Hyper Sonic coming back just seems needless from Sonic Teams point of view.

In all honesty, Frontiers did need some type of escalation for its final boss than what we had, but it needed to be more thematically appropriate than just bringing back some old thing fans loved 30 years ago for a quick dopamine rush.
Sonic's line before the start of the final boss kind of made me think that all of the dead souls of the Ancients would have came back and empowered him in some way.
But yea, there were far better ideas for that than simply bringing back Hyper Sonic.
And what's funny about this is what despite how much Sonic fans want Sonic to be a complete ripoff of DBZ, even that series understood when a transformation needed to be thematically appropriate for the plot. Granted, it pretty much threw that out eventually and now the series just stacks transformations for the sake of telling new action figures.
But Super Saiyan 1 and Super Saiyan 2 both had tons of buildup in the arcs they debuted in, and for the latter in particular, its basically the climax of Gohan's character arc. It wasn't just a transformation of looking cool.

A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. Both Adventures had sold more than Heroes AFAIK, with both the Dreamcast release of Adventure 1, and the Gamecube release of Adventure 2, beating 2.5 millions (versus Heroes' collective 2.19 millions across all platforms).
The collective sales numbers for the Adventure games is 4.5 millions for Adventure 1, and 3.39 millions for Adventure 2. Frontiers is at 3.2 millions... in 6 months, rather than in 2 decades across multiple rereleases.
Generations is also at 3.8 millions, but that figure counts the 3DS version, which is a different game.
Still, leaps and bounds beyond forces, which sold 120K units or so.
Before we move to the next page, I forgot to throw in something regarding a hypothetical Sonic Riders revival.
It might be the dope soundtrack or the hella aesthetic, but I can't stop thinking that a hypothetical Sonic Riders revival could benefit from cribbing from WipEout. Like it could be "Wipeout, but with hoverboards and stunts." Or you know, something that tells people that this new Riders is its own beast.
Happy 73,500th post, Sonic thread!

Actually, you know what? I'd like a return to Sonic Riders, too. But there would need to be a lot of tweaks and inclusions.
