I would have the Gizords work for Knuckles at the end of the game. They would protect the Master Emerald and the Floating Island. I would have two scientists in the Nocturnus with the names Doctor Zachary and Doctor Finitevus as references to Sonic The Comic and Archie Sonic respectively.

"May your heart be your guiding key"I'd go with something closer to a Blaze scenario with Shade and the Nocturnis. Have them be natives of a different dimension instead of prisoners there, and ditch the magitek angle and go for straight up magic for the abilities. Also would make Shade the only Echidna of the Nocturnis
Would at least make them distinct enough that Penders wouldn't go on a temper tantrum. Hell I might consider getting Archie in to vet out any other copyright-violating kinks in the story.

100% Blaze run here I come.
It's funny how the Nocturnus Clan kind of was a thing before the larger population of Funny Animal people became more visible in the games themselves, so for a species that was supposedly almost entirely extinct there where more Echidnas than there where Hedgehogs, cats and Foxes put together.
I felt like the dialogue did carry Chronicles for a decent stretch but I did give the game up before I finished it.
SEGA tends to learn the wrong lessons from their failures though which is probably why we haven't seen another attempt at a Sonic RPG.
You are not alone. They didn't learn anything because they didn't try. Sonic Team in the 2010's didn't have the budget, nor they were interested in an RPG.
What were they interested was the Boom franchise working. And it didn't. And I doubt they will ask a third party again to make a game for a loooooong while.
To win, you need to adapt, and to adapt, you need to be able to laugh away all the restraints. Everything holding you back.I assume Project '06 would've re-implemented Team Attack Amigo or something similar in a future update. It's not like they're actually done yet.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.I remembered an official social media post from last year where someone (they claimed it was Tails) was wondering if Omega had a small animal inside of him. I remembered it because I'd seen the special sixth episode of Mania Adventures, and got to wondering if Metal Sonic has an animal inside of him.
DEEPEST LORE: The Death Egg II Saga
In which Sonic the Fighters was actually canon lol.
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls! You know, I'm understanding of both sides...but my god, what a waste of an opportunity to have Hyper Sonic appear in Frontiers
Like, the story of the Ancients is that they brought the Chaos Emeralds to Earth following the signal of the Master Emerald. That alone, for me, is enough to tease that the Super Emeralds can destroy The End compare with the Chaos Emeralds that only managed to slow him down.
I understand Iizuka, they want to avoid power creepy, but Frontiers gave enough background for Hyper to appear.
To win, you need to adapt, and to adapt, you need to be able to laugh away all the restraints. Everything holding you back.Power creep how??? We've only seen maybe four different super forms throughout the 2nd generation of Sonic games between the entire cast. Sonic Team/Ian Flynn could've easily written a bullshit reason to bring Hyper Sonic into the games one last time if they were worried about the Super state being obsolete.
I genuinely don't understand this decision; it's fan service.
EDIT: And to be honest, I only understand power creep in the context of competitive games, not Sonic. I mean yeah, Dragonball had an issue, but if anything that should serve as example how not to handle power creep.

Certified, self-appointed Sonic VisionaryI always figured if it's specifically a super form that is triggered by specific circumstances vs an evolution of super forms, then that avoid power creep.
Like, this power up happens if you use the Chaos Emeralds and does X, this powerup happens if you use the Master Emerald and does Y, this power up happens because of genie storybook shenanigans and does Z, etc.
That makes the powerups situational, yes, but avoids the escalation problem they seem to have wanted to avoid in Frontiers.
That said, I always figured the reasons Hyper Sonic never showed up is that the strobe light thing would probably look really bad in 3D vs in sprites, so I'm just a bit surprised in general that there was a different reason entirely.
They probably wouldn't have to use the strobing effect(reason more to avoid triggering epilepsy). Sonic could've had rainbow reflections off a crystalized "skin", a few sparkles and still could've served as a decent reimplantation of Hyper Sonic into a modern game.
Certified, self-appointed Sonic VisionaryEvery other Super Form is just Super Sonic but looks different...
Hyper Sonic is just Super Sonic, but more.
There's no reason to bring this back.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Hyper Sonic does have the thing of being unable to drown. (Can still get crushed to death, though.)
The Protomen enhanced my life.

I'll do the opposite then.
Let's talk about the Nocturnus Clan. Why is the leader named "imperator"? Why do you think Ix and Nestor look alike? If you were to rewrite the story, which arc do you think would be appropiate to Shade?
