However, we don't know exactly how far into those 200 later years he was captured. It has to be some time before it, since Silver's future is already a wasteland. Considering the characters ages are around the teens, and that there had to be some time when Iblis more or less started the war, I'd say we have maybe, what, 150 years for him to be sealed away? Do note I'm giving an arbitrary 30 years for the place to go to waste and another 20 for when Silver was born.

Regardless, we just know it had to be some time before Iblis' attack started. The only other possibility is they think Shadow was connected to Mephiles(which isn't technically wrong, just not for the reason they think it is), and that's part of why they feared his power, but it never comes up when Omega explains it. Shadow did start off as a hidden project and was feared even back then, so the conclusion of him being sealed isn't... hard to believe anyway. They fear what they don't understand, etc.

That assumes that Mephiles was telling the truth about the people fearing Shadow and sealing him away, and while it's not impossible he's telling the truth, guy is kind of a liar.

Mephiles tells the truth sometimes but even then he leaves part of the truth out. He told Silver that Sonic is the trigger for Iblis release but he left out the fact that it was Sonic's death that served as the trigger for the release of Iblis.

Even if it's false, that really has nothing to do with "what time would this have happened" anyway. Since that's more what was in question.

Omega getting false videos isn't that odd. It's not like he could tell otherwise naturally if they're real or not. It's just a person playing a video, and Omega wasn't in the future with memories to confirm nor deny.

That said, I saw the point of that scene to show that Shadow doesn't give a rat's ass and he won't fall for the manipulation. Mephiles is a problem now, and that's all that matters to him. Fake or not, that has no relevance to why the story piece was put in.

Mephiles tells Omega that he was the one who sealed Shadow away (which is consistent with his creation being to keep Shadow contained, as confirmed in his profile on Sonic Channel), and even questions if Omega forgot. Immediately after this interaction, Omega admits to Shadow that he was the one who sealed Shadow.

So yeah, while it was definitely with the intent to manipulate, I believe Mephiles was telling the truth.

...I completely forgot that Omega was from the future time instead of traveling through time. Though I'm not sure if the ending part has the present Omega or the future Omega, but it's likely the latter(since he's well aware of what's going on).

It's been a while, but I think Rouge gives Omega a Chaos Emerald in the present so he can give it Shadow in the future timeline.

My theory is Omega erases his own memories cause he had no reasonable way to figure out how to deal with his feelings about sealing Shadow away. He's a war machine as is, so asking for therapy isn't the easiest thing to do(if he could even get it, since he is an A.I. We don't know how well the world is when it comes to helping Artificial Intelligence with their psychological problems). Besides that, only Eggman and Gerald really understood A.I. heavily, and they're both not ultimately sane. Eggman might also be dead too, so there's like no real options for the poor guy.

[up]It says a lot about Gerald's scientific ability, that he became an expert in many fields of science rather than just sticking to his speciality of biology.

Samba themed game.

Includes music from Sonic series.

Doesn't pick any of the several samba, salsa or latin tracks, and instead picks the hard rock ones.

Brilliant!

I think this would be a good Sonic track candidate for Samba de Amigo

That's actually the song I thought they'd add.

Any song from Sonic is gold. I'd take anything from it!

Also, I never thought you were a Sonic fan.

The US version of (Present) Palmtree Panic wouldn't be a bad choice either.

[up][up]I like a lot of 3D Sonic, but I dislike a lot of 2D Sonic, with the exceptions of Sonic 3, Sonic & Knuckles, and the 2D sections of Sonic Generations.

I played a bit of Sonic when I was younger, but nothing really caught me. Then SA1 came out and I fell in love with the game, and moreso with SA2. Been a Sonic fan since, though again, S3&K was the only one I really enjoyed out of the original Sonic games. May have been the various powerups completely change up how you can go in the level. The Bubble Shield being my favorite for that bounce jump.

I think multiple characters to play was what made Sonic Adventure a gem to me but yeah.

So after how Sonic Chronicles turned out, how do you guys think a Sonic RPG would work these days?

Don't know about that. I feel like a lot of Sonic fans nowadays wouldn't want anything different from the speed based gameplay we usually get from this series.

I love animation, TV, movies, YOU NAME IT!

I think a good Sonic RPG would be received about as well as the good Mario RPGs were - very well.

RPGs are a pretty decent direction to go for spinoffs if you can pull them off, because if you hit that sweet spot between simple and complex they can be accessible to basically everybody, both kids and adults. And they're great for worldbuilding.

An RPG would be a great way to introduce a story to the series...

Goodness knows it needs one.

[up][up][up]That's the thing that prob makes me appreciate Super Mario RPG more, that people were able to universally accept Mario in a platformer even though he started off in a platformer.
