I love that Robotnik scorpion design and would love to see it show up again. Same goes for Rexxon, the sea serpent that tries to eat you in the Toxic Caves. Also, the boss of the third level is a Roboticizer that turns small animals into badniks, which is the only time I think we see this actually happen in any game, and the only time it was actually referred to as Robocization. That game actually seems to be more closely tied to the SatAM series, as I get the feeling that the developers put in stuff from that show, like the Freedom Fighter cameos and the Roboticizer, stuff that doesn't normally show up in the games.
In Mean Bean Machine's case it wasn't made by an American dev team, but instead it's almost the exact same thing that happened with Panel de Pon getting reskinned into Tetris Attack for the American market. Sega was afraid America wouldn't care for Puyo Puyo because it's too cute and anime, so they had Compile reskin it into a Sonic-themed game that used visuals and elements from the American cartoon that was currently airing.
Sonic Frontiers update should be live. Also, apparently Jukebox Mode isn't just the game's own music, but unlockable music from throughout the series. So... Bit more robust then I expected for part of a free update. (And if that's old news.. Well, I guess that means I'm more Big the Cat speed then Sonic speed)

So that’s why such an early level as 1-2 has such a strict time requirement: in addition to an overall rank, the ranks for individual levels in the challenge mode treat them as checkpoints where it’s for cumulative total time up to that point. Meaning you can’t build up a buffer for 1-2 whereas you could if it were, say, 1-7.
My musician pageDatamining from the recent Sonic Frontiers update gives an idea who might be playable
.
Looks like it will indeed be Tails, Knuckles, and Amy, based on these files. Not sure how deep it'll be but certainly an ambitious one.
There also appears to be an unused track for Cyberspace
.

What did you expect? The fourth island was full of nothing but Obelix!
They're getting a live action movie?! That's news to me!
Earlier today I was thinking about when was the last time each of the rest of the Core Four were playable as their own style in a mainline game. This is a bit of a rehash of a point I made a couple months ago. Multiple options will be listed as some people's definitions could vary.
- Amy: 06 (2006), or Advance 3 (2004), or Adventure 1 (1999)
- Tails: Mania (2017), or 4: Episode 2 (2012)
- Knuckles: Mania (2017), or 06 (2006), or Advance 3 (2004), or Adventure 2 (2001)
- Bonus:
- Shadow: Forces DLC (2017)
- Rouge: 06 (2006), or Adventure 2 (2001)
- Cream: Advance 3 (2004, only playable as her own entity in the Advance series)
- Omega: 06 (2006, the only time he has been playable as his own entity)
- Blaze: 06 (2006), or Rush Adventure (2005)
- Technically, Big's style is playable in Frontiers, though the cat himself isn't.
I just tried out the Wave 1 DLC. Here's my thoughts:
- Earlier today I noticed that most of what's in this wave of DLC is content that was already accessible in the game, so it's technically not a lot of new stuff, mostly just menu integration.
- The total size of the wave 1 DLC was 577 MB. By comparison, the digital art book and mini soundtrack was 1.04 GB.
- "Springtime Koco" don't automatically show up. You have to enable them by going to "Extras" in the main menu, like you would with Sonic's outfits.
- The Photo Mode
- I don't know if it's just because I was playing on Steam, which has its own screenshot (keyboard) button, but there didn't seem to be a button in this mode to actually take photos. On the other hand, both Start and B were mapped to "close photo mode". I get the feeling a console release might have one of those be mapped to take photos.
- There didn't seem to be an in-game way to actually share those photos, either.
- 7 total filters, and one of them is just "widescreen" by cropping the top and bottom. That said, that was the only filter I've used so far. The others just aren't my style. And they're literally filters, basically just a color overlay on top of what's currently on screen.
- On the whole, this mode is kinda throwaway so far.
- The music mode
- Each island, including Rhea Island, has some notes scattered around them, collect them and that track gets added for use on all islands.
- The icons show up on the overworld map, so set a marker and go to the nearest fast travel point or grind rail. Some of the notes are in places where clearly you'd have expected a "hidden" treat.
- None require you to do a battle to win them, if anyone was worried, though there is one on Ares Island that is very close to the northernmost SUMO battle. Fortunately, that's my favorite Guardian, so I enjoy fighting him again.
- Of course, some might be along the flight path of SQUID or FORTRESS, or near those pesky condors, so a fight may be unavoidable if you don't time it right.
- The options currently seem to be either continuous play of the default island theme, or consecutive play of the tracks in order, starting at the one you selected. It's easy enough to go through each track, though. Controls for the mode are mapped to the D-Pad, which mostly isn't used under conventional gameplay.
- Some of the tracks are slightly themed around what island they're on. For example, Ares Island has a lot of the desert tracks, and Dry Lagoon was found underwater on Kronos Island. Ouranos Island seems to be mostly main game themes.
- No, Studiopolis Act 1 didn't make the cut. Mirage Saloon Act 2 did, though.
- To be honest, most of the tracks, especially the lyrical tracks, clash with tone of the main islands. However, some do fit.
- I forgot to test if you can change the music in Cyberspace, too, or if your current selection carries over to Cyberspace.
- Each island, including Rhea Island, has some notes scattered around them, collect them and that track gets added for use on all islands.
- Cyberspace Rush mode: Didn't try it yet.
- If they really do put an asterisk on your time for using the Magnet Dash... how the hell are you supposed to clear 1-2 in S time?!
- Battle Rush Mode:
- Each save file seems to have its own associated instance of the mode. So, I think you could potentially get an S rank on an endgame save file, and a C rank on an underleveled file. I forget if the mode is only unlocked upon completion.
- Your stats (and possibly starting ring count) are tied to your chosen save file. So of course, the mode becomes easier the more you've powered up.
- I did the mode for Kronos island only. I restarted twice to make sure I got an S rank, so I don't know if clearing it under any ranking unlocks the next island, or if you have to clear it within a certain time to progress.
- Mode had 10-ish stages for each island. Each stage is timed, and has its own grading, but what really matters is the overall grade, rewarded after beating the boss.
- Time runs consecutively for everything except loading times. This means time runs for each of the Guardians' Boss Subtitles, and for the parry sequences on the Titans. Your clear time also includes the platforming challenge to climb the bosses to get the last Emerald. So if you fall off of them (or the Guardians), it'll cost you dearly.
- For some reason, I couldn't seem to get Quick Cyloop to work on GIGANTO. I don't know if Cyloop is disabled for bosses, but it would make sense.
- It seems your cumulative time carries over for the entire mode, with each Titan serving as a checkpoint. So if you start slipping, you might need to redo that island over again. I didn't check if, upon clearing an island, you can redo individual stages or not.
- The mode does not include THE END, the hacking minigames, or the pinball minigame. That's actually a bit of a shame, as I'd like to replay some of those. Well, maybe not the pinball game. That layout isn't very fun.
- The S-rank time for Kronos Island is 5 minutes. With max stats, playing as optimally as I could (there's a couple seconds I could improve on the Bangers, Cyclones, and Shells), my total time for the first 8 stages was a little under 2 minutes. Stage 9 took me 40 seconds, and the final stage took me about 2 more minutes, so I barely made the S rank time, with a total time of 4:55 for Kronos Island.

Spoilers in case anyone wants to be surprised:
- Cyberspace Rush Mode:
- S-Rank Total Time: 40:48
- The total time for this mode is 4 minutes lower than the combined S-Rank times in the game proper. So, even if you, like me, have S-ranked all the stages in regular Cyberspace, that still might not be enough to S-rank this mode.
- S-Rank reward: Power boost option on the in-game Cyberspace levels, not in Arcade Mode. Also, doing it without the asterisk has gotta be a Bragging Rights Reward.
- Battle Rush Mode:
- S-Rank Total Time: 30:10
- S-Rank reward: Extreme Difficulty. Sonic's stats are permanently all at level 1, and enemies are all stronger, and Cyberspace levels have tighter S rank requirements (so the reward from the Cyberspace mode might be required...)
- Tips for improving your time:
- For bosses, whenever there is a mandatory downtime in the climbing part of the boss fights, Cyloop in a figure-8/infinity symbol pattern to get the temporary infinite boost (this is also a thing in regular gameplay). For example, one of these will carry you all the way through the boss climbing portion of WYVERN. Also, even a basic small circle Cyloop will regain you some rings if you're running low.
- General tip on dealing damage: For most enemies and bosses, it seems the fastest way to deal damage is alternating basic attacks with stomps. I saw a video that showed me I could improve my GIGANTO time by 70 seconds doing that alone.
Sorry, I moved what you were referring to to make it a more readable standalone post.

The only thing that matters is that they're in the game...
The rest can be discovered when it comes out.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.

Yeah, the bosses in Sonic Spinball were pretty freaky. The freakiest to me were the Spider Robotnik in the first level and the Robotnik heads spewing lava in the second level.
I love animation, TV, movies, YOU NAME IT!
