I find the homing attack kind of janky in all the games after they started having an aiming reticle appear on enemies for it. And I hate that even after playing all these later games I still sometimes press the jump button in mid-air expecting Sonic to launch himself forward and instead he does that really lame double jump.
It's pretty lame, but I find the only functional difference from the reticule being added is that you can't use the stick to target a specific enemy out of a group.
Of course the real loss here is that you can no longer go into orbit around an enemy by tilting the stick.

I can assume the time lapse would naturally not cause people to think of Sonic Unleashed in relation to "a" Mario game.
In a surprising turn, this Mario game is more interesting than Unleashed in regards to expanding the world of its respective series.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Wait, there's no fight with the actual villain on normal? Not even a token Super Sonic section? And I've seen the hard-mode fight, I could totally do that! The Ikaruga sections are easy!
Finale disappointment aside, the game was... interesting? Janky and uneven, but has some pretty high highs
It's the first time I've played a game where it feels like the developers regret the fundamental design concept. There's so many extra ways to get keys and tokens it's clear they didn't think the open world concept was working. And I don't think they're wrong— Hunting down portals/gears/tokens were my least favourite parts of the game
I think they should have been stealing from Mario Odyssey instead of Breath of the Wild— The game is at it's best at the linear overworld sequences. Having the islands be more linear, guided experiences with the occasional secret to find would have worked much better
The weirdest part is that the 2D stages are almost universally awful, but the 2D overworld stuff is finenote
I'd say that the story is definitely building up to having multiple playable characters again even if I didn't already know that was going to happen. Not really sure how that'll work with the game's structure
Also seems to be setting up for Chaos to return?
Hyper Sonic, True Perfect Chaos and Sage with more guns vs The End is a fight I desperately want to see. Gimme some real Gurren Lagann shit.
I said it before we knew there'd be more playable characters, but I noted the islands seem specialized for different movement types. Amy's area is very flat with high platforms, complimenting hammer jumps. Knuckles' has an excess of sheer cliffs that he could climb. Tails' island has a bunch of separated smaller islands that would work well with flight. It works in the wider world. Cyberspace and the bosses are my only question.

"Cynicism is not realistic and tough. It's unrealistic and kind of cowardly because it means you don't have to try."The T could've easily been another word...so thanks for that.
