Great little showcase for both voice actors and I have to say I'm impressed. Mack sounded like an odd RCS impression in most of the trailers, so its a relief to actually appreciate how distinct he actually is. Ashleigh also pulls off a Tails that's natural without sounding like Colleen or Kate Higgins, so that's encouraging. Between all that and that it appears they're actually diving into the depth of the AU concept, this has me much more interested in seeing the show.

@ Irene: I think Archie Sonic is the only prior canon that did notable exploration of the parallel self/universe concept. Come to think of it, could "Sonic Prime" be a Mythology Gag to how pre-Penders mucking things up, the main Archie Sonic was from Mobius Prime? Or maybe it's just The Earth Prime theory being referenced
Go figure.
The bigger loss was Frontiers not even getting nominated for best music though.
My musician pageIt’d be funny if the Genshin fans got jack shit though.
Hopefully the fact that Frontiers was nominated for anything will show Sonic Team that people want to see more of the Open Zone style

Check out Rogues Gallery Transplant: The GameAs a fan of both series, I wouldn't really mind if Genshin got nothing for this tbh. I didn't vote, but if someone put both Frontiers and the Sumeru expansion in front of me and said "which of these was the ultimately more engaging product" I would've picked Sumeru too.
It can't really be understated that Genshin just rolled out it's most well received expansion pretty much ever like a month ago. That's why it turned into a hype war in the first place: it was two fanbases who were riding their biggest highs in ages colliding with each other.

I'm not gonna pretend to have any amity toward Genshin, but that's speaking entirely as a Dragalia Lost fan.
My musician pageI signed up for TGA just to vote for Sonic Frontiers as Players' Choice. I feel betrayed.
And Genshin Impact is just the Big Mouth of games at this point, isn't it? The internet hates its guts, but it just. Keeps. Going.
Screw this. I got Irish Cream somewhere. I'm taking a swig.
I swear, I'm pretty sure something about Genshin had something to do with Nintendo pulling the plug on Dragalia Lost.

It's a popular current game.
Frontiers also has had some issues anyway so it's not that surprising a game that legitimately was maintained better overall won over it.
It's not a big deal anyway. Not everything can win, after all. Something will lose. That's kind of how nominees work. I'm more disappointed in seeing a friend's game he helped with lose in all 3 categories in comparison. Either way, just being nominated is a great sign, as it earned acknowledgement.

That one I haven't heard. From everything I've seen, the biggest factor was the game was just too F 2 P friendly, and there weren't alternative revenue drivers either.

My musician page
I'm sorry, I'm just making up excuses to loathe Genshin. Dragalia probably died because it was too F2P-friendly.

I guess you're right? But I'm still drinking me some Irish cream.

When you get right down to it, and eliminate all of the details.
Genshin Impact is one of the most popular games released in the last five years. IT doesn't matter how you feel about Gacha, its popularity is firmly established and as Unknown said, just released its most popular expansion yet and released a fan favorite character.
Sonic might have more legacy, but the reputation of the series is a shadow of what it once was even if the dedicated fanbase are as rabid as they come.
Sucks, but what can you do. Hey, at least Sonic got mentioned because he will likely not even be there next year at all.

A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Okay, I took like a mini-cup of Irish cream. Turns out it only hurts my throat for like a second, but then my throat feel warm and I'm mildly light-headed. I ended up drinking some eggnog to neutralize it.
@ BlackYakuzu94: I guess when you put it like that, you're not wrong? I guess I'll get over this eventually.
@ ShinyCottonCandy and erazor0707: Hear, hear! I'd drink to that, but I already resolved that I drank enough for tonight.

Sonic will (probably) be nominated again when it releases a better game; all there really is to it.
Frontiers is fine, but you need to be more than just fine to be put on the same stage as some of those games sadly, you need to be exceptional.

A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Yeah, I'm calling BS on the "removing the bots" claim. Either they didn't at all, or there was a heavy bias going on.
Regardless, though, most of the options should never have been allowed in the first place. Make a secondary "ongoing" game audience participation if you're that set on appeasing your corporate overlords.

I mean, does the rest of the game have to be nearly perfect for just the music to get recognition?

I really like what they are doing with Tails in this alternative universe. The fact that this clip got dark so fast was really interesting to me and I'm really loving the story direction of this series so far. I hope we get to see more moments like this throughout the series.
I love animation, TV, movies, YOU NAME IT!
