If you don't like the games, you don't have to play them. Most of us genuinely like the game despite some bumps.

My musician pageThere's some conflict on the character sheet and the YMMV page for Frontiers about whether The End is a Generic Doomsday Villain or not, with the character sheet saying it's a subversion for its clear malice, manipulation, and ability to speak and boast about itself, while the YMMV page says it is for how much we don't know about it, such as where it came from, why it wants to destroy, or why it targeted the Ancients to begin with.
I can see both sides of the argument myself; maybe some supplementary material or future games will clear things up. From the monologue it kinda feels like it's the personification of Cessation of Existence, which life opposes by existing, but that might be reading too into things.

Wouldn't the YMMV comments just make it a Hidden Agenda Villain?
Like I can't see The End being a GDV, it's a lot closer to MCU's Dormammu or Unicron then say the Megabug.

@Negacube: While I don't mind people disliking the game, saying its a 1.5/10 seems a bit much, and when someone like Video Game Dunkey trashes the game, and then tries to defend the bit at the end where he not so subtly sent his toxic fanbase to downvote a game he didn't like because it had a better metascore then games he did like over it as Sonic fans trying to own him
, you know that the negative discourse surrounding Sonic has become far more then constructive criticism, which the devs themselves are even asking for, and into just plain hate for the sake of it towards the games and their fanbase, as toxic as they can get.
In a way, the Sonic Fanbase has become something of an easy target for internet critics.
I mean all the outrage these negative reviews would cause would just give people like Sterling more clicks.
Best to just ignore them and others trying to spark outrage like I'm doing.

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Honestly, the feeling i get from the reception to frontiers is that while it is very flawed, it also has a lot of fun to offer and people are seeing that this game concept has some genuine potential that sega could capitalize on in more refined sequels. People certainly seem more excited about it than lost world and forces anyway.
Forces wasn't really bringing anything new to the table...
This game has "an" idea, but it's not really used to any effect here.
The combat is interesting, Sonic's movement (outside of Cyberspace) is decent, and the story is serious...which means it's actually good.
The world design is like the weakest thing to me personally, both gameplay wise and aesthetically.

My musician pageSo what's people's theories on why Chaos survived while the rest of the ancients didn't? Seemingly everyone but them who brought the emeralds to the master emerald became the chao. But also they alone seemed able to shape shift?
I am really hoping for a Frontiers 2 where they're afforded more time to get the handling in cyberspace up to scratch, and more time for additional assets so we don't have to have three islands stretched over four and four bosses stretched over five. And of course I want to see this quality of writing applied to more classic sonic characters (Shadow, Rogue, perhaps even Blaze if they can justify it) or even introduce some IDW characters. Also I so want Chaos to appear, that child is so underutilised.
Chaos was a Chao. The Emeralds just seemed to return them to something reminiscent of their original form, or that of their ancestors.
They can keep quite a few things from Frontiers...
But they really need to learn how to design a world Sonic is actually meant to travel in.
A world that has platforming actually baked into it, instead of floating just above it randomly.

That snippet might have been exclusively in supplemental material. I'll have to dig for the original source, all my sources are secondhand like the Sonic wiki.

My musician pageHe was always a mutated Chao, that fact has not changed with the information this new game brings.
It's never addressed in Sonic Adventure, it's only ever been supplemental information...like on Sonic Channel or something.

. From Sega's old website. In Japanese, but the machine translation doesn't leave too much ambiguity.

The Master Emerald...
Back when it actually did something, of course.

I really don't think its as janky as they say.
I haven't had a real issue with playing thus far. The worst jank was trying to snap onto one of the rails of Island 1 and fighting the Tower on that weird spider web ruin.
And wow, glad I avoided the reviews. The game is definitely better than that.
