Infinite was so cringe he killed the Phantom Ruby storyline. I get the impression the writers are embarrassed by him and that's partly why he never shows up in the IDW comic or other works. That said, unlike a lot of one-shot villains there's enough ambiguity that you could say he survived and is unrepentant so if they wanted to they could bring him back. But as I said, I get the impression SEGA feels Infinite is cringe
Interesting observation. From the "genuinely seriously villain" era on one hand you have Black Doom who is listed under The Scrappy for being too edgy and on the other you have Shadownote who was so popular the series kind of pivoted around him for a few years. And Mephiles has criticism labelled at his Complexity Addiction but he's generally seen as a bright spot in a bad game

I think Infinite's problem is one of the fandom actually being united.
During the adventure Era, there were villains who weren't really good but Black Doom and Mephiles were at least taken seriously by the narrative and parts of the fanbase; nobody in the fanbase takes Infinite seriously, and the game struggled to take him seriously either.
He's the worst combination of Story-Breaker Power and Cringe Comedy
Speaking of Black Doom, apparently he's alive
(and shared ginger ale with Shadow).
If there's nothing in the world...I mean, yeah.
Imagine if the world design was actually based off typical Sonic typography.

Fuck, I knew that voice wasn't Amy. Way too serious.
Sonic got cured of his cyber corruption way too easily and it felt like an excuse to bench the trio LMAO.
So there's some kind of Galactus esque planet destroyer about to be unleashed and it technically isn't Eggman's fault this time?
Also Sonic is now an official member of the Eggman Empire now. Yay!
Please tell me Eggman busts out a mech and helps us against the Galactus monster thing.

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Said Galactus Monster is much closer in spririt to the Stone-Like in terms of role, really.

Watch SymphogearMake sure you're playing on Hard Mode if you want the True Final Boss.
The Protomen enhanced my life.
Wow, I had a gut feeling that playing on the highest difficulty would lead to something good.
Helps that I was just replaying Mega Man Powered Up and that had an extra form of the final boss on Hard.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Speaking off FF XIV, I am getting Meteion like vibes from whatever is sealed in Cyberspace. It certainly is more malicious though.
EDIT: BIG THE CAT IS IN THIS GAME? THERE"S A FISHING MINIGAME?
HOW DID I MISS HIM?

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Ok, so I just listened to some of the music and... Yeah, the boss music kicks ass. I mean, seriously. Find your Flame is so badass and I swear, at times I keep thinking I'm listening to Infinite's theme. Undefeatable is also quite a joy to my ears as well, and that one plays for the 1st Titan. I can't quite say it reaches the greatness of Rise of Lyric, (but then again, that's an insanely high bar), but good to know that Sonic music still rocks. ... Unless it's from that RPG whose name I shall not mention.
No rain could douse the flames that burn within me!Sonic Forces wasn't an RPG...

Caused quite a bit of a stir for the comics.
But basically it was made by Bioware, and the music in that game was seriously downloaded from the internet.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"It caused the genocide of the Knuckles in the comix.

Speaking of Infinite, I wonder if we'll ever see the Phantom Ruby again.
