Enjoying it so far.
But man, I do miss borderline Yandere Amy.
The controls feels awkward at times and the first zone feels lifeless but not boring at least if that makes sense.
Already at the desert zone.
Quite curious about Eggman and Sage.

Yeah, can we not with that nonsense narrative? I won't deny that there is some overlap between Amy and Cream's characteristics, but Cream wasn't the reason for Amy's "obsessed lover" phase. Just as Shadow wasn't the reason for Knuckles' "angry dumbass" phase, which he commonly gets accused of. Cream made her debut right when the series was going into a bold new direction following the failure of the Dreamcast and SEGA going third-party. And no doubt, SEGA wanted to play up Amy's obsession with Sonic for this "bold new direction", especially since it's a fairly popular trope in their home country. This would've happened to Amy regardless of whether Cream was present or not.
And even then, Amy was mostly the same as she was in Heroes, just more passionate and Sonic focused, with Cream present at all times. Literally the only time Amy was remotely a "creepy stalker" in Heroes was in that stupid cutscene for the Team Sonic boss fight, which was clearly Conflict Ball for the sake of a boss fight that should not be considered as a serious moment for the character. By this very logic, we should be calling Rouge a violent psychopath for picking a fight with Team Chaotix for no reason in their equivalent cutscene. And while Sonic X would go on to be one of Amy's worst portrayals, there were plenty of moments of her being her caring and compassionate self, very often right alongside Cream. And as you acknowledge, IDW (and Archie before it) had Amy and Cream tagging along together without Amy's character being derailed. So clearly, you can have Cream present without Amy going "creepy". It all depends on what SEGA wants for the characters, the skill of the writers involved, and what they decide to do.
I don't like how Amy is characterized nowadays at all, I've made that clear plenty of times. But I do not want to return to "crazy stalker", nor did I find that very good either. All Amy needs is: 1) be characterized as a Genki Girl again. She was described as an excitable and energetic girl since day one, and that was true for her portrayals up until Lost World, whereupon she had all her energy and emotions toned way the fuck down. And hence why she's boring now. There is no character to Amy anymore aside from being caring and compassionate, and turns out that doesn't make for a fleshed out character. And 2) just have her express her love for Sonic again and be enthusiastic with him. Like it or not, Amy being openly in love with Sonic and wanting to at least hug him has been part of her character since day one as well, and it has never truly been a problem until the writers went overboard with it. You can have Amy flirt with Sonic and want to go on dates with him without it being her only character or what have you. Bring those two things back while keeping the care and compassion, and Amy becomes a well-rounded character with plenty of entertainment opportunities.

She just needs to be a bit more emotional...
Reach every extreme in all the emotions she's feeling.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.I agree with the need for more personality on her part, but Amy's attitude toward Sonic doesn't matter if he keeps blowing her off at every opportunity. Depending on how you look at it, either Sonic is an asshole because he keeps rejecting someone who legitimately loves him because "he wants to be free" or whatever, or Amy is a gender swapped Dogged Nice Guy for someone that clearly isn't into her beyond Just Friends. If there's to be a relationship at all between the two, both sides need to be addressed. Otherwise it's toxic and one-sided.

Ok, valid. Sonic only sees her as a friend. Amy doesn't realize that in-universe. That makes her a Dogged Nice Guy. That needs to be changed.
She said she should be more independent at the end of her story in SA. So why not give her a short solo game?

Because she's The Chick of Sonic's group...and that's it.
I don't think anyone on the development team are interested enough in her for that.

I just said it made me laugh occasionally, that's it and that she's boring now.
I wasn't really interested in "fixing" her.

A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Solo games don't perform well. Except Shadow, but people also mocked it in equal measure. And even if Sonic Team was interested in making solo games, I don't think Amy would be a candidate before characters like Shadow again, Knuckles, Tails, or even Blaze and Silver.
Or Big, since Sega seems obsessed with fishing minigames for whatever reason.

Oissu!I wouldn't complain about a Big game honestly. It'd probably do way better than his SA 1 segments did since at least such a game would be more upfront about it.
Are explosions science?Sonic and Knuckles have the dynamic you'd come to expect...
Therefore it's clearly not due to the tone that Amy and Sonic's usual interactions wouldn't work.

I mean, generally speaking, because in any case they don't interact much in the games to begin with. When they do, it's never neutral enough...to know what their dynamic would be.

I like Knuckles and Sonic's playful banter.
