It is unfair that contemporary employees get grief for comments said by previous ones years ago.

Of course given IGN is the most bog standard of all video game review sites and I've seen little to suggest their analysis and commentary is any deeper now than it was 10 years ago, my objection is more rooted in working people getting unnecessary grief than a belief some deeply incisive commentary is being tarnished. Still dubious behavior regardless.

Both sides are being stupid tbh. But one side are obsessed about this while the other is just collecting a paycheck.

As much as Sonic fans are caustic about not letting things go, IGN is clearly actively cultivating it at this point, and with their reputation for irresponsible journalism that spreads far outside the Sonic franchise them trying to go “lol, it’s not our fault fans just can’t take a joke” is a bad look.

I don’t have much sympathy for either group, but IGN trying to look like the poor, beset upon good guys in this situation (or really, any situation) - is pretty horseshit

Except that Sonic fans don’t have the same ability to blatantly manipulate the situation for profit, as we’re seeing here. IGN wouldn’t do this if they weren’t counting on Sonic fan backdraft to get them clicks, attention and brownie points.

They’re counting on the situation to get worse, so that they can make bank off it. You seen the same thing from yellow journalism sources whenever there’s a potential for a backdraft. I tend to find it more disgusting than the backdrafts themselves, because they’re cultivating those negative furors for their own purposes, and it’s also part of the general distaste I have for yellow journalism instead of approaching such narratives responsibly.

Realistically the best move would be for the fandom to ignore any jabs and just take in any IGN reviews/commentary by their own merits, especially when the game analysis playing field is so wide open that review sites hardly own that sphere nearly as much as they used to.

Then again Sonic fans aren't exactly known for containing their passions.

That's my biggest problem; I completely get IGN manipulating the narrative to provoke Sonic fans...but Sonic fans, the..."passionate" ones, take the bait literally all of the time.

All you need to do is make one negative comment about Sonic and you have their attention. They're physically incapable of not overreacting at the slightest provocation over anything, no matter how slight it is.

I agree yellow journalism is bad, but we all know the more vocal Sonic fans are not exactly the most mentally stable people to interact with.

And like I said, it goes both ways; you can't blame the sins of one or two people on an entire company or fandom.

Everyone is a fucking idiot in this situation.

I believe I once called out manipulative Sonictubers who used nostalgia and bad reading comprehension to fuel anger in Sonic fans. They do it for profit, as per Youtube standards.

I've played Sonic Unleashed on PS 2, Wii, and PS 3. If I had a 360, Xbone, or a XSEX, I'd play that due to better framerate than the PS 3 version and quicker loading times. I prefer the HD version, but I can see why the PS 2/Wii version is found more fun It's generally easier, and Sonic isn't as crazy fast. There's no hubs where you have to collect everything (it has those Gaia Temples though). Also, the Final Boss is WAY better on the PS 2/Wii since you have a punch out section instead of fly to Dark Gaia and do quick time event as Gaia Colossus, the Blue Sonic parts are more forgiving where you have to attack Dark Gaia, and you actually have Super Sonic fight Perfect Dark Gaia properly instead of Snake Head things on a barrier. Also, NO FUCKING PRESS SQUARE/X 60 FUCKING TIMES BULLSHIT!

Final note. DLC stages are insane for the HD version. I hope you have good reflexes and memorization.

Oh, I forgot the Wii version doesn't have hubs. Legit downside, cause they're amazingly well done.

Well, we have a day. Let's have some fun wild mass guessing! wild mass guess

    Spoilers just in case
As we now, Eggman created an artificial intelligence to discover the secrets of the highly advanced civilization of the Starfall Islands. However, something went...off, and him and the heroes fell victims of Cyberspace.

However, the Chaos Emeralds are involved!

What if Sage attacked Knuckles for a way to take control of the Master Emerald? Maybe to have an advantage against the Chaos Emeralds on the island.

I felt that way at first but once actually started talking as opposed to internal monologuing he sounded a bit more natural.

Interesting how one of those portals was on Sky Sanctuary. Wonder if that's gonna be relevant to the plot given Knuckles' pondering on the Emerald's origins.

That was really interesting. So the civilization on Star Fall Island may have been responsible for creating the master emerald altar. Now I need to see how this story ends.
