I just love that writer response, though.
SEGA: "Shadow is under no cirumstances allowed to be funny or make anything resembling joke."
Writers: "Okay. The joke is that Shadow is ridiculously serious and humorless, then."
Boom Shadow: (completely serious) "Your shoddy craftsmanship brings shame to all hedgehog kind, and for that you must die."
It's brilliant.
Yea, I gotta admit, they did the best they could with what they got. You can't really tell much stories with that setup.
But for a comedic sitcom? That's brilliant.
I'll never forgive Sega for robbing us of Shadow going on a trip with Rouge and Cream though in IDW. That's unforgivable.

A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Rush is definitely a good game, but it does run into the DIM Ps usual problem of level design in the last two worlds and I REALLY dislike how finnicky the gimmick of the final world is.
Rush Adventure though is them finally getting it all right, which carried over into Color DS.
Blaze is probably one of the most tragically underused characters in the series; she has none of the baggage that people usually give Shadow shit for and wasn't undermined by being tricked into fighting Sonic like Knuckles.
She had everything needed to become greater breakout star than both and then...they did nothing with it whatsoever. Not a goddamn thing.

A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. Why would you make your own newly introduced deuteragonist play second fiddle to another newly introduced deuteragonist...
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.I will never forgive 06 for what it did to Blaze, nor the perception she got as "Silver's girlfriend/friend" rather than her own freaking character. I sincerely despise she plays second fiddle to a legitimately terrible character like Silver.
To win, you need to adapt, and to adapt, you need to be able to laugh away all the restraints. Everything holding you back.I've said before that they're decision to use Blaze like that hurt her and Silver.
Basically, Blaze could have taken both Silver and Elise's spot if they'd given it at least a little thought.
It doesn't help that Silver is still the moron with a shitty boss fight that was easily duped by Mephiles to a lot of people. Him basically turning Blaze into his sidekick did him no favours.
And the fandom has long memories. They'll always remember that he did that and resent him for it, and nothing will change.
One Strip! One Strip!Yeah, he's such a moron. It's not like his world was dying and he had no real options, right?
It's a completely illogical argument to make. It was that or nothing. The problem was the game never presented any actual option beyond trusting the only person who could make it happen. And the reality is? No, there wasn't another option anyway. Silver had no clue what Chaos Control was, just that he needed a solution. He's naive, but not a moron. And in the end, if he didn't do so? His world wouldn't have been saved, so he actually did make the right decision. It just sucks he had to sacrifice his friend to save all 3 timelines.
Blaze was given a horrid role, though. She barely was there(unlike Amy who was decently there), and was screwed over for nothing. If that was her final bit in the story, and there was no time reset, it wouldn't be as bad. At least her sacrifice would have meaning. This is probably why her official origins is from another game, since she was written out of existence.
Though Generations shows her alternate self can be brought back, so it'd be neat if they did that. Having two Blazes could be interesting in itself.
Blaze wouldn't have worked as an Elise replacement very well. She's not naive enough in personality. She's not that kind of princess, nor is easy to kidnap(due to actually being a warrior). That, and who would actually be playable in Silver's story to begin with if Blaze isn't there other than Amy? The game's story is meh, but it works best with the characters we have. Blaze and Elise just needed way better writing. The rest were fine with their narratives and how it worked overall. Even if somewhat underutilized.
Shadow?People like to give carp to morons like Silver in fiction for trusting objectively evil-lookin' guys like Mephiles...
Mephiles has no mouth and slit eyes.
Actually paying attention to the context of the world. with everybody dead...there's no reason to not trust a stranger like that.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. It all comes down to the execution and conveyance; Silver trusting Mephiles is literally one of the first things the player sees of him in his own story mode, and since most people are going to play Shadow's story first, where they already know Mephiles is a villain. So Silver's introduction to many players is immediately trusting the villain that he literally just met. If you pace the sequence of events and better justify it, it could potentially work.
But as it stands, it's just a plot point that serves no purpose other than to justify Silver's involvement in the plot and why he wants to kill Sonic. I highly doubt anyone thought any further than that and how that could be damaging to Silver's character.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Well she can't replace Elise one for one. But there are some beats she could cover if they combined Elise and Silver's roles.
She's a Princess who wants to save her home. Her fire powers that she's always had could be re-interpreted to come from having Ibilis sealed within her just like Elise did. Mephiles might come and tell her that defeating Sonic would be the key to saving her home, just like he did in canon (not sure why that would be, because I haven't thought that far ahead yet).
She maybe meets Sonic when he helps her fight off some Eggman, and then learns later he's that Sonic the Hedgehog, and now has to struggle with whether she should go through with Mephiles plan or not.
Hell, the name of the land is Solenna, and she wields the Sol Emeralds. They could say that Blaze's ability to wield their power is due being a seal on Solaris' (oh right. That's his name. That's just another connection) power.
There's a lot of holes here, and I've made this suggestion enough times that I'm sure some people are sick of it, but I think it would have worked real well.
One Strip! One Strip! If Sonic Rush didn't exist, the name of the land in Sonic Nex Gen would still be Soleanna...
It's incidental.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.I played Silver before Shadow, as you can do either order depending how far you get in Sonic's story.
I saw it pretty damn clearly as Silver doing all he could to save his world. It's not his fault he got tricked. It's Mephiles' fault for making Silver's World a crapsack world and then taking the time to make it even worse. Hell, again, if Silver didn't go along with it, they wouldn't have been able to save all the three timelines, so it was the right move.
The only real problem is what they did with Blaze, making her a sacrifice that doesn't even work. The rest was actually fine in itself among the playable characters, as they all made sense in the narrative.
Frankly, who cares if they didn't actually pay attention to the context. That's their fault for not actually paying proper attention to what the story is, as it was executed just fine. Silver's world is dying, and he has no choice but to suck it up or trust the only thing that can potentially save it(which it actually did, heh). I don't see any issue with that part of the plotline. Blaze's bit, yes, I do. There was no reason to sacrifice her if they were going to have the world be saved anyway, making it a completely ridiculous decision. Nobody else was screwed over like that, and that's even with Elise being a pretty ridiculous character on her own merits.
This. The Sol stuff is pretty irrelevant here.

Her being a Princess doesn't make her even close to Elise's role. She's not a shut-in to anywhere the same degree and knows a lot more about the real world. She's an action character. So no, that wouldn't have worked. She couldn't take both roles regardless. All she needed was a better role in the story, which really would've been as easy as not having her sacrificed for nothing. If the last story didn't exist, it would've been workable. But then she couldn't easily return in other games, so just changing it was way better as an option.

Shadow?Yes, it's pretty hard to believe Blaze was a character made to be banished to the Fiery depths in this One game.
It's lucky Sonic Rush does exist or she would've had no lasting impact.

Geek is wrong, somehow.
A Vocal Minority do hate Blaze.
Some Amy fans. This obsessed weirdo even compared Blaze with Captain Marvel in how bad she was. Then again, he also openly insulted another artist by calling him "brain-dead" because he didn't see Amy as an action hero (the guy said the female characters, but it's very clear he was focusing on Amy). I presume he speaks for that Tumblr crowd.
Amy fans, some of them are entitled weirdos.
