Maybe it's not an overt reference, but I definitely feel the line is meant to be a subtle nod to their Odd Friendship in the Archie Comics. Especially since Ian Flynn did both.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Regarding Omega comment on Blaze, I do feel is the closest to a reference they can get behind. Omega in Archie was very cartoonish in personality, so him having a crush on Blaze made some sense, but it wouldn't really work with game Omega who is constantly angry and vengeful.

He's basically the secondary protagonist. I was also hoping for Bass but hey we're getting 2 characters at least.
It amuses me that Megaman's still popular enough to cameo, but apparently not enough to get his own games.

Played the game a bit before bed.
Found a couple fun mid-race dialogue references. One of Eggman's winquotes (when he wins a regular race, rather than the grandprix) is "now you know why I am the best!"
Also, I'm not sure how I did it - I think I used a boost wisp - but I got him to say "all systems, full power!" at some point.
The uncomfortable truth is that Mega Man is simply more valuable to Capcom as a merchandise-and-license franchise where they can get money for almost nothing.
Me and my brother are really enjoying CrossWorlds' Grand Prix mode so far. He mains Eggman with the Dark Reaper, and I main Sage with the same car.
I don't want the world, I just want your half.Sounds like what they do with Darkstalkers.
Playing the game, I’m loving it but it’s a bit disappointing that it’s so razor focused on online-multiplayer. Not that I’m asking for a huge single player mode if they didn’t want to make one or anything, but there’s not really all that much for someone who isn’t strictly focused on that kind of play to do. Reminds me of Sparking Zero.
At least there’s split screen for couch play, though.
I think a lot of the courses in this game are really great. Colorful Mall may well be a superior mall level to Coconut Mall.
Apotos does a great job of capturing the feeling of the original Sonic Unleashed level.
Sand Hill is way more fun then any level based on Sand Hill, of all things, has any right to be. (To be fare, it also incorporates some elements of Eggman's pyramid from SA2.
Aqua Road... Somehow STILL is annoying. They decided to put the Red Star Rings in annoying locations. If it weren't for that, we'd be good.
I gotta say, I don't like the way the Jukebox works. You can't choose specfic songs to be your music for each lap, just albums.
