Looking at the video, there seems to be a weird lack of enemies. I saw a motobug in one level and what looked to be some sort of robot firing, but that's it.
But I'm glad 3D Sonic fangames are beginning to evolve past "open world with no objective".
Do not spare the feelings of those who would not spare yours. There's a lot of enemies, the first 2 levels are just really big and he went through routes that they'd be even more of a non-threat.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. With so many people working on Sonic fan games how long will it take for one to get rebranded "Turbo the porcupine's search for the havoc rubies" and sold on steam?
I mean that's probably already happened but I mean one really getting mainstream traction.
You are not alone.
So far, I think Spark the Electric Jester is the most successful of any recent Sonic-inspired game, especially of those that are actually published.
Man, Forces really made people horny for wider areas. Yeah you need a balance of linear, spacing, pathways, and exploration. Go to far in one direction and you'll be as divisive as Forces. And for a Sonic game, divisiveness is equivalent to DEATH. Sadly. depending on who you ask.
I kinda like what they were going for. You know, it would be relly cool if Sega had like a competition every year to see who could the best fan game, and then hire the team on to help them out.
Now if only there was a team who could help Sonic Team with their boss battles...specifically 3D. Cuz I don't think there's a Boost/3D/main or spinoff platformer where people have enjoyed at least 70% of the boss battles in a Sonic game.
People have been doing that since before Forces...
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. The Sonic Hacking Contest has been a yearly thing since long before Forces.
I almost wanna say since SA 2 was the newest game.
AAAAUUUUGGGHHHH!!!!I was only referring to open world levels in their 3D fangames, not SAGE itself.
Even then there are only 3 actual examples of that all of which existed before Forces.
Any other 3D Fangame that has an Open Level isn't a "fangame" they're just engines so that other people can make 3D fangames without having to work on a physics engine from scratch.

So everyone...remember when we were talking about Zavok?
I'm calling it. Sega will finally take the hint and get rid of the Deadly Six....right when someone reinvents them in a way that makes them likeable. Because Sega can't just do something. It has to be the opposite of what people want.
One Strip! One Strip! How about...they don't get rid of him until they create another villain character that can actually be recurring.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Ok. So they manage to improve them, and then create a new reoccurring villain and Sega finally gets rid of them, to the displeasure of all (as they make the same mistakes with the new reoccurring villain).
You're right. That makes much more sense.
Of course, maybe Zavok and the six could catch on if Sega used more than half their ass when it comes to them as characters.
One Strip! One Strip!Nothing Eggman does now is different enough to what he did back then to warrant that 2nd one.
Outside of putting flowers in robots.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. It's a character from teh current comic series.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.I mean, we got Tangle and Whisper in the Forces mobile spinoff...
The comic has also the issue of being a direct continuation from Forces, while the main series... has been without games since Forces.
Still, I think Eggman, if he had 2 braincells, noticing how one of his robots (the one apparently designed to keep Shadow at bay while we are at it) has become one of his most dangerous adversaries, should go find E-122 Psi, and give it an mkII treatment akin to the one Beta got.
...
I'm kinda worried about Omega in the comics as well, last we saw him, he was a head Orbot and Cubot had found. A head channeling Abridged Android 16, tho.
Call it my weakness for titles in the classic formula but Sonic Galactic was the title that I found myself most interested in at SAGE
I'm also usually indifferent to OC characters popping up in these games, but Tunnel the Mole does seem like a fun addition
“Little girl that dresses like Eggman”. I legit just copy and pasted that in google search and…you were referring to Sara?
Another villains vs villains battle with the Deadly Six vs Eggman’s forces could be cool.
Gameplay wise I think people would like Zavok more if his boss battles were creative. Forces boss battle with him was the most creative, but it was dialed down and could’ve been even better.
And this might be an unpopular opinion but even by design I think the Deadly Six are better characters than the Koopalings. I don’t hate the latter like everyone else, but lets be real, they’re just for memes and at least the Deadly Six can distinguish on ability and appearance!

They didn't change the last level from the final demo outside of adding mines to the tunnels, linear really works for this.
