You know, one thing I always found funny about Sonic Adventure is how the theme songs for the characters seemed to imply things about the characters that never really showed up in the games themselves.
Going by It Doesn't Matter, Sonic comes off as far more Chaotic Neutral than his heroic portrayal in the games. I mean, just look at the second chorus:
"This fight is not for anybody, this is purely for myself. There is no way I'm going to give 'til the very end. I can't tell what is wrong or what is right, I've got to find the answer..."
Tails' seems mostly in line with his characterization, until you reach the chorus:
"I wanna fly high, so I can reach the highest of all of the heavens. Somebody will be waiting for me, so I have got to fly higher..."
...What? I'm probably reading too much into that line, though.
Knuckles' characterization has never been consistent, though, so I guess I'll give it a pass. Still, the lyrics paint him as far more of a badass than how he's depicted in Adventure.
Big's is...far more hyper than his characterization.
Of course, Amy's gives off a creepy Stalker with a Crush vibe, so that one's perfectly in line.
Mind you, I still have a soft spot the game's music, but it is something that always struck me as odd.
Knuckles' characterization changes so often I wouldn't be surprised if they rolled out Chuckles
one of these days.
They need to have Knux meet up with Chux in Generations just so they can lampshade how erratic and inconsistent/widely varying Knuckles' characterization has been in the series. Bonus points if Chuckles ribs on the "Unlike Sonic, I don't chuckle/ I just flex my muscles." line from SA!"Unknown from M.E.".
I liked the SA2 version more than the SA version, as had a better rapper (Hunnid P > Dredd Fox) and was (overall) catchier.
You have to read between the lines, but the song actually does allude to Knuckles' (intended) characterization.
For example:
"Is this the way, the path I chose?" = his duty as the Guardian of the Master Emerald (a lifestyle he was forced to choose), as well as his jealousy toward the free-spirited Sonic.
"My duty is to save the flower from evil deterioration." = another allusion to his job of protecting the Master Emerald.
"Don't approve of him, but gotta trust him." = His (sometimes friendly, sometimes not) rivalry with Sonic; he doesn't always see eye-to-eye with Sonic, but he respects him nonetheless and knows that he can get the job done.
For all I know, the M.E. in "Unknown from M.E." could be referring to the Master Emerald.
"Just wants a friend but had to give up his ding dong for it, tragic." - AngelLightStarI know, right?
I perver the SA 1 version of Unknown from M.E and It Dosent Matter.
I perfer the SA 2 version of Believe in Myself
http://www.youtube.com/user/Soniman032?feature=mhumFor some odd reason, Sonic 1 and 2 copies only sell for a few dollars on eBay as well. =/
I'd still think they're worth more than that.
