"Listen, boy, we can't base all our journey on chance. Your powers might let you be on the bright side of it, but without any preparations, all that awaits us is certainty. The certainty of death!" Alexander glared at the young man, baffled by his carelessness.
"And for you ma'am," he said while turning to Violette, "I am sure this house has a kitchen and personal, eager to fill your stomach. I suggest you go search for it"
...Only to be forced open by the sound of a yipping dog somewhere near his head. Except it wasn't a yipping dog, but a girl who sounded just too much like one. Rostov rose his head slowly, his eyes wide open as he wore a scowl on his face. It was nap time. You do not wake up Rostov during nap time. "You want something to eat...? " He whispered, staring into Violet's eyes as his face shook. "Do you? Huh?"

Pokedy Poke-poke"Hey hey, quick the the orders aren't we?" Violette retorted to Alexander, not that she had caught his name. "See I don't want to step away yet, I missed one night and everyone's going on an exodus to avoid vampiric death camps. If I leave for a snack I'd probably come back to a smoking crater where this room used to be."
"You want something to eat...?" The old guy was muttering again.
"Right, yes! I'm glad you cut through my subtle hints, mustache. You're a prophet and a genuis, but are you a cook?"
Orrick nodded to Maou, that would be two for Farren and one for him. He returned to his seat, pocketing the daggers for his uncle and drawing the other to examine the steel again. He grasped it by both ends, and began to bend it like one would a wire. The blade resisted, even nicking his palm before it snapped.
"Uh," the boy muttered to himself. If this was the metal the humans preferred, he needed to know how to control it. And if he could bend this piece to his will he could blunt their swords at a distance. Orrick took the chance to examine the cross section of the blade, it seemed to be mould poured, no folding, so it was mass produced. Satisfied, Orrick sandwiched the pieces between his palms, opening them to reveal a repaired dagger. Though the shine was dulled and his finger prints in the metal.
Orrick grasped the blade again and started bending it. Slower this time, and it gave curving into a U-shape. "Better"
Now he had to practise until he could do that one handed.

You must agree, my plan is sheer elegance in its simplicity! My TumblrRostov could have sworn he felt part of his brain blow apart within his head as Violet continued to make demands of him. His eyeball twitched as he tried registering exactly what this... this... bitch had said to him. But it was as plain as day, wasn't it? She was being as obnoxious and proud and noble as the rest of them, except she was doing it right to his face. And he wasn't gonna have that. Rostov reached out and grabbed Violet by the ear, pinching it tightly as he rose with his face frozen in that crazed expression.
"You want to eat? Then you get to COOK!" He bellowed into Violet's ear, before trying to "guide" her via her ears around the table and into the kitchen. True he had no idea where the kitchen was, but he would find it eventually in this house. After blowing off some steam at this wretched whelp.
Pokedy Poke-poke"An old habit, left over from army times, I suppose" Alexander answered the blond woman, "I can't say I enjoyed my time, but at least they got things done instead of trying to fill their belly"
He frowned. At least he wasn't the only one who missed last nights meeting.
"But I can guarantee you that the ideas proposed her a very real dangers. Ever since the revolution, my family has been pressed into service, for various nations in the war against the humans. I can assure you, once the Northern Principals replaced our sorry excuse of a government, they will come for you and your families."

Selina inspected a few of the spears, mumbling to herself about their quality.
"rotten, near-broken, very near broken..."
"Most of these spears aren't in the best shape. I would stick with the smallswords were I you." Again she mumbled to no one in particular.
I spread my wings and I learn how to fly...."Hey I served in the war too, buddy-boy. And say what you want about the military, they were punctual on the mea-"
Violet was interrupted by the apparently crazy old mustached guy shouting directly into her ear. And then trying to drag her around by it.
"Ha! Haha!" She chortled, despite the pain. "You've got three seconds to let go before things get real interesting." She called out in a sing-song voice, hoping he'd ignore the threat.

Rostov harrumphed as he continued dragging the girl around, opening up a doorway and finding a room with stacked pans, pots, and various assortments of cookware. A kitchen, unless it were a washroom of sorts. "You want interesting, missy?" He yelled again, completely ignoring Lykouleon and brushing him off. "Learn to make stew! That will keep your interests for a bit! Or boil water, and see how long it takes! Or god forbid, SHUT UP with your INCESSANT YAPPING!" He finished as he began pulling her into the kitchen...

Pokedy Poke-pokeAbout ten completely differnt scenarios had just occured in front of the dying Thaddeus all within a span of five minutes. He didn't know whether to laugh or cry at all of this. Theire entire race was on the line and this... This!
He let his head roll back and stared at the ceiling. "Am I dead yet?"
"Two... one..." Violet counted out methodically, quite ignoring Mustache except for his continued grip on her ear. "Looks like we've got outselves a winner!" Normally this would have led to a good solid punch in the gut or another tender place. However, this was a building full of nobles, speaking openly about who they were. It was the perfect place to use her powers, and there really weren't many times or places like that.
Violet grit her teeth and sent a low current along the top layer of her skin, arcing up through her ear and into the man's hand. The charge was small, no worse than rubbing stockinged feet on a lush carpet and reaching for a metal doorknob. She figured it would get her point across without any real harm done. Then she'd probably punch him in the gut, no use breaking with tradition.
Rostov froze as he felt what was akin to a static shock strike his fingers. Now, part of him thought that it must have been something he stubbed with his toe, and almost dismissed it. But then he realized that he would get a shock in his fingers if he stubbed his foot. A house full of nobles... leave it to him to deal with the electric one. And she dared try and use her powers on him? Rostov turned toward her, his eyes slits as he released her ear and pulled his gloves off. "You dare... you really dare..." he muttered, clenching the gloves in his left hand as he raised his right hand up. "I don't know where manners happened in your household, but here you will learn!"
And he swung his open and bare palm, intending to slap the upstart across the cheek.
Pokedy Poke-poke"I hope not," said a soft voice from beside Thaddeus. "Though I can see why you might think that."
The grey clad figure knelt and bowed, "Haldis Alloi, formerly Phan. I bring the response of the Lady Alloi. Only myself and one other Alloi will be travelling with you. The Heir-Apparent Gilda Alloi." The middle aged man stood to reveal a sleeping infant in his arms. "The Orrveins keep to strong a grip on their former Nobles. But they can't hold me. As for my family, they'll be making their own way I'm sure."
You must agree, my plan is sheer elegance in its simplicity! My TumblrViolet's head snapped to the side, her cheek stinging. Open handed and so obviously telegraphed, maybe he had a problem hitting women? Not enough of a problem to refrain, though. Keeping her head turned from him, Violet's lips curved up in a delighted grin. She hadn't had a good brawl for a week or two, and never one mixing in her powers. Her fist shot out towards the old guy's stomach in a blind strike. She wasn't about to pull her punches, geezer or not.
This probably wasn't proper behavior for the court of a prince. Hey, as long as it was fun.
An intervention seemed to be necessary.
A draw of the sandpipe, a loading of it, and a hard blow into one end of it later...
"Stop this foolishness! We are as a family now, there can be no fighting amongst us."
The whole scene was rendered rather absurd by Rostov and Violet now being covered in sand.
I spread my wings and I learn how to fly....— Baksas du Pharos —
Baksas gulped, took a deep breath and entered the room. Before making it even a couple paces inside, the young man dropped on one knee, bowed his head and closed his eyes.
"I am but a humble young man who deludes himself with dreams of acting as true knight, even in these times where chivalry and all things decent seem lost. To that end I feel I am obligated to offer you any small assistance that I may on your journey. Be it simply feeding horses in times of peace, or fang to protect you should danger strike."
Baksas paused, opening his eyes slightly, though still staring at the ground. What he had just said was from his own heart. Next was the important part. The part that would set him apart from any young man picked from a crowd.
"Please, I, Baksas du Pharos, former squire to the late Lord Zieg Canis, humbly request the honor of serving fair lady such as yourself."
At the end of all things, his name is all I really have.

Fear the Gothilolions! | Anime listRostov gave a loud "Oof!" as Violet's punch struck. It was slightly higher than she intended, but it was a solid strike to his chest as he backed off for a moment, eying the girl carefully. "For one who dresses like a doll... she can throw a jab with the rest of them!" He grinned softly, especially as his eyes scanned where his palm struck her cheek. It was red, the sort of color that a slap like that usually is, but closer inspection revealed that the skin was peeling around the edges. No permanent damage, but it left a nice effect.
Befoulment. It taints water, including the water inside animals. He had these gloves for a long time, simply because they stayed dry the easiest and because any others that became wet with snow or sweat smelled rather foul as well, and gave him a terrible rash on the fingers. But It had it's uses, especially since the fouling didn't need his immediate contact. He didn't know much about electricity, but he was fairly certain that she needed such contact to do any harm...
Rostov grabbed Violet's extended arm by the sleeve, his gnarled fingers wrapped around quickly... before he was suddenly covered in an absurd amount of sand. He blinked, the sand getting into his coat and his wound. He turned to Selina with an aggravated look on his face, but simply harrumphed and released Violet as he pulled his coat around him, trying to shake the sand out of his clothes.

Pokedy Poke-pokeViolet turned after her strike, squaring off from Mustache who'd taken a step back. Her eyes glinted in excitement, hopefully he'd last a round or two.
"We'll see who lear-"
FOOF!
The two of them were suddenly covered in sand.
"MY DRESS!!!" She spat grit from between her lips, turning angrily on the woman with the tube.
"I would not expect such actions from you. Either of you." Lykouleon stood nearby, arms crossed over his gut, and a neutral expression on his face. "Is this the behavior of nobles, of sensible folk, of," and this was directed at Rostov, "grown men? Petty squabbling, arguing... Blows, even? Tensions are high enough, Rostov. Don't make them worse, for what peace remains."

Rostov mumbled something along the lines of "Hippie kids and their one-track minds" not caring for the hypocrisy in the statement as he brushed his hand at them a few times before planting his head on the table and yawning, his eyelids feeling heavy...
