Phew, I was about to call myself out for digressing. Basically... your soul probably was a piece of someone else's, which was sundered in that failed reincarnation attempt. The others in that dream... maybe they're other pieces? One of which managed to keep the original mind. I dunno, I'm spitballing here.
Maybe your fragment filled in the cracks by drawing excess spirit particles from the Root? Or maybe your original had such a heavy soul that splitting it would still allow the fragments to survive as individuals. That the world decided was "complete enough."

"It feels to me your usage of "rankings" is still situated in your world. I can't blame you, it's difficult to truly consider a world where things are completely different, but... I feel this is an incredibly unlikely scenario, not to mention... heretical. My theory myself was... some form of reincarnation. How a Drake emerged in my dream, considering dragons aren't connected to the path a human soul takes, but... more than likely, she was another beastwoman, one fashioned after a wyvern. They exist, and there's plenty of confusion."

Hah! Well, there you go.
(cracks her knuckles - well, at least the ones on her real hand)
So whatcha been up to, Mil?
