Many have tried to control these Legendary Pokémon's full power. It takes more than a Poké Ball to draw it out - certain artifacts or external stimuli tend to be required.

...Some have been more successful than others.

I take it those who were successful- were ones with good intentions?

(shakes her head)

They were just stopped at the last possible moment, rather than by their control mechanism failing. Then again - everyone's intentions are good, at least when seen by their own eyes.

That is certainly true...

To some extents, I guess.

Granted, most of this knowledge I learned from reading old news articles... I was only an infant during the height of this.

My father was a merchant.

Taken by plague...

I lived off of his inheritance for the most part.

...Is this why you went off to explore? Because it was a way for you to build on what he left behind?

No, no.

I had just always had a wanderlust...

I still do.

I take walks around these forests.

I suppose, it was more that I was- trying to leave that business behind.

...Maybe in another world, you would have made a good Pokémon Trainer.

-chuckles slightly-

Maybe I would have been.

When I was headed to the East, I was past my prime true- but I was still capable of direction and- orders.

I had apprentices to do all of the rigging of the sails and the- the... -rolls his hand a little to keep up his memory- other sort of deck work- the mechanics of the ship and the steering... the navigation I was still fine with.

I always did my own navigation. I even drew the maps.

I still do draw maps...

Having Pokémon is just like having a crew. Traveling with them requires care that keeping them as mere pets won't offer.

Of course, of course-

Though a crew has its' own sort of... independence.

Pokémon are more independent than most people think. You may keep them in Poké Balls, but they won't listen to you unless they respect you.

Poké Balls keep them from harming you - but they don't brainwash them.

Mrmmm... interesting.

Still- it was a long life.

I don't think I'd do more of that exploring... even if someone offered me a ship.

I can understand that. Most people in my world start their journeys young, so it's not too soon after that many put aside their desire to travel.

By the time I was fourteen, I was in a position where I could not travel across the world anymore. I worked in the Aether Foundation - I still do.

I sort of admire it.

Sort of...

Well- either way, I'm afraid I will leave you for now Ms Lang.

I feel like visiting this lake I saw out on one of my walks.

Have a good evening. -he smiles, as he takes off his hat slightly-
