-He powers it off, then pops open the back and removes the battery-
You're from a dead world, I'm guessing. Where they don't know much about magic yet.
-He presses a thumb into the connectors and frowns slightly-
-The PDA flickers back to life, at full charge.
Magic is really just another kind of technology. All I've done is introduce a current, right?
-He's gone, Trudes-
-You are alone-
-Hal is outside now-
-He goes and finds a quiet spot to sit by a tree-
... Oriana? It's Hal. We should talk.
What if there’s no better word than just not saying anything?(have you ever attempted to get a reading on the Goddess herself, Homura?)
(the energy of the ring of light is in fact of such a magnitude - perhaps even greater)
(...in fact, the general feel of its energy is quite similar to that of the Law of Cycles)

I believe that we may need to find someone who knows more about it.
Well, of course we do. Not going to do much sitting around pondering circles of light, are we? Besides- can we go inside? As much as I love using my magic to form an umbrella, it's getting heavy.
It was your idea. But yes- lets go inside. I need to work-out and all.
-Johnny heads inside to go down to the basement gym-

For one, the metal's starting to dig into my thumb, and it hurts. For another, I'm inconsistent. -Shows him the battery icon on the screen: one moment it's at full charge, then drops to 2%, then back up to 70%, then moves again-
It's just more practical to use a battery.
There's magic batteries, too — imprinted spells in 'em, for specialised equipment. It's not like there's no use for it. But there's just not much call for having someone go to the trouble of doing that when anyone with no special training can put some acids into a little metal tube. You could plug a lemon into your phone, too, but you'd just rather use a battery, wouldn't you?
-Reassembles the phone and hands it back to him-
And there's that old addage, about technology and magic and not knowing which is which if they're both too advanced for you.
... Oriana?
Now now, no need to get theatrical.
-Trudes, it's that vampire you almost reduced to dust that one time-
What if there’s no better word than just not saying anything? It's fine, dude.
-Johnny notices Clarice doing her push-ups and just goes "huh" for a moment, as if he wasn't expecting someone to be there-
Er- Good day. -he heads over to start on the treadmill-
-Aelfi remains quiet on his shoulder for now, having resigned herself to more boredom-

Nope, I was hoping you would know...
