Thank you for being sensible about this.
Cloud, just what the hell do you call this? Do you have any idea how hard it is to get Maeva to feel safe here?
What if there’s no better word than just not saying anything?I...'what?
Are you fu— what?
Please stop doing that, please.
What if there’s no better word than just not saying anything?... Okay, I know I just shot you a moment ago so I'm in no position to throw stones, but...
What the hell are you thinking?
...
-Pats her-
There there.

What if there’s no better word than just not saying anything?Cloud isn't welcome here. They tell him they wish he was dead and the other one was still alive, they make plans to get rid of him. Tifa won't speak to him. He doesn't have a family. Nobody has anything good to say about him. Nobody's ever had anything good to say about him. Why would anyone want to be Cloud?
Ink is a good friend and a smart dog. Everyone likes Ink. Ink makes people happy.
-Picks up his collar and puts it back on, though it's too large for his human neck- You can't tell them it's me. If they find out, they'll make me leave again, like the last ones did.
... Maybe you should talk to dad. He— he'll know what's best.
What if there’s no better word than just not saying anything?I don't know how to find him. I told you that.
We've never even met. He was friends with the other one — the one everyone wishes was alive instead of me. So I can't find him for you.
You probably do too, right? You wish he was here to help you. But he can't. He stopped existing so I could figure out to be happy with my family. And I've finally figured it out. So please just leave me alone now. I'm a good dog.
-She flinches back-
I'm sorry. I'm sorry I hurt you and made you cry. I promise not to do it again.
Cloud, you can't just be a dog. What am I supposed to do?
What if there’s no better word than just not saying anything?Stop saying that! -His eyes seem to glint unnaturally as the "human" facade slips for an instant-
Why can't I just be a dog? Tell me why I can't.
Just — just the other day, someone I just met looked at me and told me that I seemed like a good friend. Nobody... no one's ever said things like that to me as a person. They say them all the tiime to Ink, though. They love him.
Cloud, you're— you—
... Look, I'm sorry. I'm sorry that things happened in this way, and that you feel like you gotta be a dog. That sucks. Maybe... maybe just take your time, and... things'll get better. Then you might feel like you can be Cloud again.
I— I'm sorry. I will give you things, if you want.
What if there’s no better word than just not saying anything?

-Squats down beside him-
Cloud, what are you doing?
