There was a young lad that joined my crew. Carthaginian.
Called himself Mathos. He was only about- 17 or so. Impressionable, idealistic.
He volunteered, I didn't ask for him. He had a friend- Zaracas, who joined too. But I didn't see much of Zaracas. He was Carthaginian also.
In fact, Zaracas decided he no longer wanted a part of the trade several months in. Usually if people leave like that, we have them stay on the island and make their lives there so that we can see whether they'd send any letters out. We'd want potential traitors that know how we operate to be silent after all. Not saying all who retire are traitors- of course not.
But- one day, Mathos failed to turn up when we docked at port. Which concerned me... we waited, and when we heard a commotion in the middle of the night it turned out that Mathos was killed by an unknown assailant.
Which means- Zaracas, or a companion of his, did the deed. The next morning one of the boats were missing.
But that was perhaps- a year or so before the fall.

I appreciate it.
I really do. -smiles-
It may take some luck, and a little while... but it can be found, I'm sure.
