Yeah.

And the most alien life we've met so far have been natives that haven't made it to Industrialization.

And that's only on Grensgebied I think.

Well don't say too much too soon.

Might jinx it.

Though, honestly, if I was to say anything it'd be that humanity's first opponent in the stars, will be itself.

There wouldn't be a point to that. That'd just make things worse for everyone.

Well- that's assuming there's any sort of solidarity.

Technically there wasn't any reason to do it on Earth either.

But that happened hundreds of times.

Sometimes for very stupid reasons.

Land's limited on Earth. That's not really the case when you're out in the stars.

And diplomatic incidents might not be common if all the colonies are far-flung and distinct.

That's true- it won't happen soon.

But- if anything came first- it'd be that, I'd wager.

Maybe.

'S not what I'm used to, though, so it seems a little weird to me.

Well, humanity's not the only thing around for us. There's lots of other groups. And since each individual system can't stand against them on their own, all of them banded together under a military alliance. There's hundreds of thousands of members. Each system might be vastly different, but all of them want expansion. It's unity through conquest, basically.

So, like you said, it was basically something that wasn't human that united humanity.

Sort of. It's half defense and half expansionism.

Wanting to expand your territory's as old as humanity itself. Doesn't need any foreign threat.

It's... kind of brutal, to be honest. I don't like it a whole lot myself.

... Yeah.

War for that sake is... yeah.

Not fun.

Can be kind of easy to be riled to support it too.

Well, most people don't really care. The ordinary people, that is. For them, all they want is to not be invaded.

The only people who'd really, really care about that are the people on the edge of our territory. They always want to take some neighboring systems so they have a buffer. And then the buffer wants a buffer, and it just keeps rolling along like that.

Because that alliance will realize it's only enemies that it can fight- are itself.

And yet, if they start fighting among themselves- the enemy at the border will be strong enough to take advantage?
