... Well.
That order of Knights I mentioned.
Though officially we were to promote the Latinist Imperial Church...
We instead tried to promote that philosophy I mentioned- in a militant fashion.
The Knights of Aurelius, didn't approach the aim of Chrysos Utopia through the methods that were said to be vital in morality, by the author Aggripa...
... Long story short, I made an order of hypocrites, that has continued for centuries.
In a philosophy that promotes simple guidance, I was the one calling for revolutions and quicker results when that usually ends badly.
... And I did it all whilst this order held a golden cross to signify our allegiance to this philosophy- yet we had brought such horror- to the home of Aggripa, no less.
The Scourge of Athens.
In a way, it was spitting on his grave and destroying all that he stood for.
... And well- it's unfortunate for that author to have a Mentor with a gold mask that he described in his book, and for that Mentor to actually exist.
1.5 imperial gallons of tea were consumed during the writing of this postI was responsible for something really horrible- upon a place he really cared for, whilst claiming to support someone he really cared for, which is going completely against the memory of that someone he really cared for.
... I had led my men there for a diversion, in the name of overthrowing what I perceived to be a tyrannical state, and intended to show that the Golden Society could be realized through direct action.
It was- a very long campaign in the countryside. Resistance was- really fierce. No-one wanted us there.
The countryside was devastated from it.
And we finally got to the walls of Athens. Finally there- and...
As soon as they fell, my men, tired and stressed from the long campaign, took out all of their rage upon the people in that city, as well as the buildings.
The school burned- the library- the gutters were caked in blood from all the citizens slaughtered, like cattle by we 'victors'- and I just stood there and watched, paralyzed.
Because I was responsible for that campaign- we could've kept our march towards Alexandria.
But- no- I thought Athens would be easy.
And at the end of it, Athens was virtually nonexistent. No more than a city of burnt out ruins.
1.5 imperial gallons of tea were consumed during the writing of this postWell, yeah.
But-
I mean, it's a commonly known legend.
... Plus it's kind of outdated.
... Still- in some ways I kind of do, because though they believe I didn't exist, they still attribute the Scourge of Athens to me.
And I know it was a different time, and I was a different guy- but it's still my legacy, ultimately.
