Qualities are more specific, and have greater range than concepts.
It's the secret word behind the world that you see- it's what makes us identify what a particular thing is.
Universal qualities like emotion- universal concepts like gravity.

You have to treat magic as a field of science in its' own way- it conforms to its' own logic.
Some of which you'd think are purely mental forms of logic.
Such as the law of opposites. For every single quality- there is an opposite quality.
Everything exists on multiple spectrums. Love to Hate, Anger to Calm, Sharp to Blunt- things like that.
