Lots of reasons.
For one, he's just a stupid kid. I mean... he's smart enough, sure, but you know what I mean. He mentioned he was gonna try to rob the Folk by kidnapping a faery. Anyone who says that has no sense at all and more brains than are good for 'em. More trouble than it's worth.
I couldn't let him walk off into that blind. It'd be as bad as selling him to the Folk myself. I've seen what happens to the kids they take....
Her ears twitched at the familiar bump of grenade against the ground, and without looking at it she quickly dove to the side and behind a tree to find cover, covering her ears to protect against the blast and the noise.
When it detonated, a shrapnel or two scratched her sleeves as the fragments impacted the tree, causing her to squirm and as training dictates, head to the opposite direction.

From behind the tree, she reloaded her gun and looked back at Raam, sizing up what he's doing at the moment.

Makes this whole kidnapping thing kinda pointless, doesn't it? I never lost my kids or got dragged off by the Folk. None of it ever happened.
I don't even know how much of my own life is fake. Nothing makes sense anymore.
