-Nods- All magic is on a spectrum, between willpower and precision, and depending on the spell you'll need more of one than another. While it'd be very impressive if you did, I'm not expecting you to master both in one go. The idea is to see which you're better at, and go from there to figure out which branches of magic you'd take to more easily.

That's true. But consider this, if we can find him, and approach him under the pretext of... 'friendly communication', let's say, then I can get into position to use the rifle.
Once that happens, when I open fire, the truth serum will be inside him, and then you can ask him his name. Once you have his name, we'll ask him where he's keeping the hostages, and then we can send him back to Hell.
...And besides, I might actually be enough of a distraction to divert his attention while you take him down.
Then again, something that should immoblize him might be useful.
