It is kinda creepy that the stitches are very visible, though some mistake it as a beard

Welp, I am going to sit this one out. It looks super cute, but that's too much for me.

Word on the grape vine is that Dog Man is a good movie.

Once I saw the premise was let's sew a dog's brain onto a man's body, yeah. Yeah it sounded like a feel-good kind of movie.

You wont believe this you guys, but as it turns out, Dogman made a lot of money, it supposedly has "The Best January opening ever"

I guess Mufasa and Sonic have been out for a month now and there are no other family movies as competition.

If I am right this was the right call. Not to promote it. It sold well on its own and spending 200 million in ads was not needed after all.

Alright, that's great! I haven't been able to watch it yet but I'm planning to soon.

Funnily enough, despite being a Captain Underpants fan I never actually read Dog Man, I guess I had just grown out of the target audience by the time it became a thing. Still, it looks cute and it's the feature directorial debut of WB vet Peter Hastings, that's gonna be awesome. Crossing my fingers for a cameo from a certain waistband warrior...

[up][up] Yeah, that's what my thoughts are at the moment, too. I read a ton of the Captain Underpants books but had kind of aged out into other stuff by the time other books and Dog Man came out.

I never ever read any Dave Pilkey stuff, but I ABSOLUTELY loved the Captain Underpants movie and I love the fics.

[up] I also never have read any books by the author, but I really liked the Captain Underpants movie, and now I can say that I also quite enjoyed watching Dogman (which I didn't realize was related before watching). The only thing I have seen or heard about this movie was a trailer before Sonic 3, but the idea sounded funny enough to give a watch, and the movie delivered that and more.

My first thought is that Dogman a very fast paced movie, throwing joke after joke (both in the foreground and in the background), with a good amount of them landing. But the movie also has a some scenes in which it slows down to have emotional moments, and I have to say, everything related to the relationship between Petey and his son/clone worked well and was my favorite part of the movie.

A complaint that many won't experience, but I have to mention, is that the Spanish version was notably inconsistant with what on-screen text was translated and which was voiced over (or even ignored); resulting in some jokes that I was able to get, but not landing with the rest of the audience.

I just got back from seeing the movie today myself and yeah, it's very much a fun laugh-a-minute movie while still having a good amount of genuine heart, and the performances were a real treat. I'm not quite as familiar with the Dog Man books as I am Captain Underpants, but I still enjoyed it regardless.

There's also a lot of funny background details, a lot of which go by extremely quickly.

[up]x2 I would say it was quite good, and even if I complained about some of the on-screen text, I have to applaud the effort they did having some characters reading the text when appropiate. I would even say that some of the jokes were enhanced by it.

Zendaya as Shrek's daughter? I'm willing to see where it goes. (Also, referencing Shrek's tenure as a meme icon? Wasn't expecting that…)

I am not sure if referencing contempirary socisl media memes is funny and what Shrek should do or just too corny even for it.

I mean, Shrek is so linked to the 2000s maybe it should just embrace such?
