You wont believe this you guys, but as it turns out, Dogman made a lot of money, it supposedly has "The Best January opening ever"

Alright, that's great! I haven't been able to watch it yet but I'm planning to soon.
Funnily enough, despite being a Captain Underpants fan I never actually read Dog Man, I guess I had just grown out of the target audience by the time it became a thing. Still, it looks cute and it's the feature directorial debut of WB vet Peter Hastings, that's gonna be awesome. Crossing my fingers for a cameo from a certain waistband warrior...

I also never have read any books by the author, but I really liked the Captain Underpants movie, and now I can say that I also quite enjoyed watching Dogman (which I didn't realize was related before watching). The only thing I have seen or heard about this movie was a trailer before Sonic 3, but the idea sounded funny enough to give a watch, and the movie delivered that and more.
My first thought is that Dogman a very fast paced movie, throwing joke after joke (both in the foreground and in the background), with a good amount of them landing. But the movie also has a some scenes in which it slows down to have emotional moments, and I have to say, everything related to the relationship between Petey and his son/clone worked well and was my favorite part of the movie.
A complaint that many won't experience, but I have to mention, is that the Spanish version was notably inconsistant with what on-screen text was translated and which was voiced over (or even ignored); resulting in some jokes that I was able to get, but not landing with the rest of the audience.
I just got back from seeing the movie today myself and yeah, it's very much a fun laugh-a-minute movie while still having a good amount of genuine heart, and the performances were a real treat. I'm not quite as familiar with the Dog Man books as I am Captain Underpants, but I still enjoyed it regardless.
There's also a lot of funny background details, a lot of which go by extremely quickly.

…I like the Puss in Boots designs better. This is gonna be an adjustment.

It is kinda creepy that the stitches are very visible, though some mistake it as a beard
