"Okay? I'm fine! I just got a little... well, a little disoriented for a minute," replied Red, smiling. Mari let go of her and straightened. When she spoke, her voice had returned to its standard monotone.
"There was a creature. It may have been a companion. It looked like a man with brown plates all over its body, and its head split into two to reveal a thin tounge," she said. "It was doing something to Red and Autie, I do not know what."
Red placed her hands on her hips and looked like the utter picture of confidence. "I'm sure I could've taken it!"
"Oh, dear. The toad, the monkey, and the dog have all screwed up."Zach eyed Carosso with faux curiosity. He remembered the snide little fuckass. Killed an entire town and brushed it off like it was nothing. Under normal circumstances, Zach would pull his gun on the fucker and start making arrests. Not that he could, but he liked to pretend he had the authority. But he didn't want to blow his cover now. He turned to Doug, flinching slightly at the sight of Horroce. "Nothing much. Just a couple of fights with a skeleton scythe thing and a living tatoo."
Esmerel made her way through the crowd, finding herself near Red. "Are you alright?"
"You have more than enough potential. So tell me what is the one wish that would make your soul gem shine." -Mitt Romney, probably"Yeah! It was this person with brown armor stuff all over it, and it didn't have a face!" Red replied. "It was making my head hurt kinda just by standing there...."
Red hugged herself and shuddered a bit. Mari patted her companion on the head. "It's gone now, Red. It's okay."
"Oh, dear. The toad, the monkey, and the dog have all screwed up."Boreas stayed silent, as usual, throughout the conversations going on. He was a passive observer for the time being, gathering info as needed. Any info on the opponents was good, and though this plated being with some kind of mind-based powers seemed problematic, he did not seem to look nervous. He was keeping as still as he had before, so as not to disturb his head's new occupant.
Ryan was a bit more worried. "Was that all? Did you notice anything else, Ms..." He stopped, and realized they hadn't been properly introduced. "I'm sorry, I never caught your name. I'm Ryan, and my companion over here is Boreas," He pointed to the icy-looking man, "I remember you mentioning your companion's name was Red, but other than that..."
Hey! Read my fanfic: HereResuming her usual monotone and neutral expression, Mari stood up and turned to Ryan. "I am Mari Kitor," she replied.
Red cheerfully turned to face Ryan as well, smiling and confident once more. She had quickly pushed all thought of the plated humanoid from her mind. "And I'm Red, like you said!"
"Oh, dear. The toad, the monkey, and the dog have all screwed up."Ryan smiled. "Nice to meet you guys, too!" He said, goofily. His optimism shone through again, forgetting the events of earlier momentarily. Of course, he had little else to say, but made do with his goofy smile. It usually worked on most people.
Boreas nodded cooly at the girls who introduced themselves, moving as little as possible. In fact, it was almost possible to mistake him for a sculpture, the little he moved. He considered it a gift. His companion considered it creepy.
Hey! Read my fanfic: HereEsmerel smiled. The fat beared man trudged into the crowd. "[[{Expy} Elroy Jenkins?]]" A large man with a goatee stood up. He looked down at his clipboard. "Ryan de Ghiaccio?"
"You have more than enough potential. So tell me what is the one wish that would make your soul gem shine." -Mitt Romney, probablyRyan nearly jumped out of his skin. "S-So soon?" He asked quietly, mostly to himself, before raising his hand above the crowd and stepping towards the man. "Right here..." He was sure he sounded weak and incompetent, but maybe that would mean his opponent- Elroy, was it?- would underestimate him and his companion.
Meanwhile, Boreas carefully extracted Vareth from his hair, handing him over to the boy he was bonded to. "Watch carefully," He said, a faint smile on his lips. Perhaps to Jeek's trained eye, he'd see excitement behind it, or in the man's eyes. Perhaps he'd see the hidden fire behind the icy glaze of the companion's eyes. In any case, Boreas quickly excused himself and walked calmly to Ryan's place, looking far more imposing than his human.
Hey! Read my fanfic: HereThe man nodded and waved for the two to follow him. Elroy followed with no complaint. A humanoid, obviously his Companion, walked beside him. He had a beaklike nose, burning red eyes, and hair like fire. He looked at Boreas and gave a snide smile. The man led them to the intersection, directing Elroy to the left and Ryan to the right.
"You have more than enough potential. So tell me what is the one wish that would make your soul gem shine." -Mitt Romney, probablyBoreas and Ryan followed the man respectfully, though Boreas gave his opponent an icy look to combat the snide smile. It seemed effective, or so Ryan thought. Ryan walked down the path he was told to, his steps far more hesitant than was appropriate. In fact, he seemed to be having second- no wait, but now it was surely fifth- thoughts about the whole thing. He stepped up to the gate, shaking a great deal.
"Please be careful out there, Boreas," He pleaded with his companion, "And please keep him alive."
"Yes, of course," Was Boreas' reply. He seemed to have no worries, no doubts... But Ryan could see the fire, the excitement, the passion in his companion's eyes. He smiled despite himself.
Hey! Read my fanfic: HereDoug nodded and sipped at a soda as Zach briefly filled him in. He knew he should've stayed to watch the fights rather than wandering off. Now he and Horroce were at a disadvantage to at least two potential opponents. A frown grew on his face as he thought about that.
The frown deepened as he asked Zach "Where'd your lady companion get off to? Not following after that tall creepy feller I hope?"
"Silent Hill always gives the best presents." -agentjr "Death feels like acoustic guitar." -helloweenZach looked at Doug. "Esmerel? No idea. But I don't think it's a problem. She can take care of herself."
The tunnel ended in a rusty iron grate. Elroy and his Companion were visible on the other side. "Ladies and gentlemen. in this corner we have the master of disaster, NOTUUUUUUUUUUSS!!" The gate slid open and the fiery Companion stepped forth. He cracked his knuckles. "Let's make this interesting, eh?"
"You have more than enough potential. So tell me what is the one wish that would make your soul gem shine." -Mitt Romney, probablyRyan looked at the companion, thinking himself foolish for not examining him sooner. "He looks tough..." He commented, a bit worried. The companion definitely had a fiery tint to his powers, as far as Ryan could tell. Boreas noticed this, too. He also noticed the name...
"Whoever set this match up knows mythology..." The man said, mentally prepping himself for the fight. He was going through his moves in his head... Aegis of Boreal... Bifrost Incarnate... Contrails of Winter...

Hey! Read my fanfic: HereBoreas sidestepped the flame cooly, though Ryan was less cool with his "hit-the-deck-and-cower" tactics. The tall companion paid it no mind, instead walking out into the arena. He formed himself gauntlets of ice, both of which held spikes at his knuckles. He let out a soft grunt, followed by a fighting stance.
Ryan recovered himself rather quickly, and looked out to the arena. "Okay, okay, calm... Watch the field, see if you can't help..."
Hey! Read my fanfic: Here"Ooh, elemental-types battle," Doug commented to no one in particular. "Should be interesting, eh Horroce?" The fleshy companion gave an annoyed gurgle and focused intently on his snack, ignoring the match entirely.
Doug just shrugged and offered Zach a bag of popcorn wordlessly, trying to watch the fight.
"Silent Hill always gives the best presents." -agentjr "Death feels like acoustic guitar." -helloween"Quick! Bifrost Incarnate!" Ryan called to his partner, trying to help. He knew his companion knew how to handle himself, and was no doubt already preparing the move, but....
The mist around Boreas' gauntlets grew until no one could see him, until a bridge of ice rose out of nowhere, with Boreas riding it as it formed. The bridge went over the wall of fire, and though it melted, Boreas jumped off it just in time and somersaulted on the ground immediately after.
"Contrails of Winter!" Ryan called again. Mist had already form at Boreas' hands, condensing quickly into whips of snow, ice, and dense fog. He whipped the icy trails at Notus, knowing full well they'd be evaporated. He was already planning something...
Hey! Read my fanfic: Here

Carosso and Elena listened in, having followed them to find out about that mysterious creature, and what happened to that little ice fairy. Whatever that plated thing was, it intrigued him. It seemed to have a special tie to Companions. And direct exposure to it...had caused that little thing to faint, and had wreaked an unholy havok on those weaklings' minds. He would need to capture it and dissect it to find out what made it so useful and then perhaps make a Mergios out of parts of it and a human. This tournament was just a drawing area for all kinds of amusing little coincidences.
He meets little Zachary again, oh how he remembered Zach's utter horror at the calamity he wrought at Kanab Town. The sight of such an emotion in a human...it was too good. He wanted to see that on Zach again...maybe by destroying this city too.
